It's stories that are set in a future, which doesn't impact the present day other than saying this is what's going to happen. It's telling us about a future that, at first glance, I don't particularly like, which then turns me off reading present day set stories since I know where it has to go. I guess what I really want to know is what is the point of all of this?
Why does it need to have an impact for it to be worth reading? Why can't it just be good stories or stand-alone series?

Just because it doesn't have a larger impact in the DC universe doesn't make it a bad comic.

I'm enjoying the sense that creators are getting to play in an interesting sandbox, and so far have enjoyed most of what I've read. One thing that would help is if the timeline were more prominent? I had to work out myself that these comics weren't all concurrent, despite the event banner and generic blurb at the start of each issue making it seem like they might be. As simple as putting the year beside the title.

I am having fun with Future State so far. I really loved The Next batman, and wonder Woman. I enjoyed the humor in Wonder Woman. had fun on that read. I dont understand the time line though. In The Dark Detective it seems like it is happening just a bit in the future, yet in The Green lantern story with Guy there are what 35 years that passed.

Over all I would say so far this is a hit. Out of the 7 I have read so far my favorites are Wonder woman. The Next Batman, and The Flash in that order. Least favorite was Harley Queen. But I have been done with her because of over done for a while now.

Hold up, wtf. Yara Flor is 30 years from now? How old is she supposed to be? How are they gonna introduce her into the regular universe if she still seems that young in 2050?

She seems to be an amazon, so she'll probably age in a different way than average people.

Still, in the first comic we ever read with her she is at least 30 years old. Since we're gonna get her as Wonder Girl post Future State I assume she will already be at least a teenager in the present. Which means she was 44 at minimum in her first comic. And yet she didn't feel like she was 44

The real question is this: how many are enjoying the series with the knowledge it is finite vs if it was the ongoing status quo? I am enjoying them because I know it is just a nice detour. If this was the lay of the land for the 5 years they originally planned? No. Especially Flash.

Justice League Dark and Teen Titans are the only ones with a back story I am not excited about, but those two are more or less going to he continuing on just without the bad stuff.

Justice League, Superman (Jon), Wonder Woman and Superman/Wonder Woman all seem just fine to happen.

Even Kara would be an interesting premise for future stories.

Although I think in the next two weeks most of the stuff I will be appreciating being a detour other than maybe Aquaman, that one I will probably miss ending.

For the moment Future State has been kinda ok. Some of the concepts have been interesting.

What is coming after Future State with all those Batman books is the huge miss lmao.

I kind of view it in two different ways, 1. Do I enjoy this knowing story elements could live on in the present, and 2. Did I enjoy it in a sense that some of these creators will continue on, so did I like their writing? Like this doesn’t feel like a detour, Futures end did because by the end they completely undid that future, this feels like more of a tease of things to come but with the added touch that they likely won’t come to pass. Because while Tim Fox won’t likely get to Batman, Ridley still gets to tell his story and Tim has present focus, Yara Flor is to be introduced in Infinite Frontier, Jo is coming to the main Green Lantern series, the magistrate will make its initial appearance in Gotham, and etc

But overall I’ve enjoyed what I have read, I’ve been focusing on the new characters and series I will read in March/April and I feel like I got a taste of the writers competency to tell stories.
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
    Words to live by.
