    Default Recommended X-Men collections/omnibuses?

I also posted this in the X-Books forum but I'm now realizing that this would likely be a better place for this kind of discussion. My apologies—I haven't ever really posted here.

I am new to reading X-Men, having only read Morrison’s New X-Men and Whedon’s Astonishing. I really liked both (esp. Astonishing). I have a question about further X-Men omnibuses and collections that are worth picking up, though. I have these omnibuses on my shelves or in transit/pre-ordered:

    • Uncanny X-Force by Remender
    • HoX/PoX
    • Dawn of X Vols. 1–10
    • Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 1
    • Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 2
    • Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 3
    • Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 4 (pre-order)
    • X-Men by Claremont + Lee Omnibus Vol. 1
    • X-Men by Claremont + Lee Omnibus Vol. 2
    • X-Men Inferno Omnibus (pre-order)
    • Excalibur Omnibus

I love Bronze Age comics and decided to do a huge splurge since I've barely spent any money on fun stuff this past year for myself. What are other X-Men omnibuses/collections that are worth getting (and that aren't OOP/going for absurd aftermarket prices)? I'd like to take advantage while Marvel is reprinting some old ones and putting new ones out that fans have presumably been clamoring for. Just looking for all of the timeless classics, really—this is going to be my personal Year of the X-Men (and Daredevil).

    Thanks, and take care!

X-Men goes out of print so fast...

I'd grab the New Mutants omnibus whilst you can and maybe The Twelve Saga.
You should buy Astonishing & NXM if you really enjoyed them too.

Check out the 4th post on this thread:
    https://community.cbr.com/showthread...ected-Editions
It gets updated every few months with the list of which omnibuses are readily available, low on stock, or out of print. It's very helpful for prioritizing purchases!

The Age of Apocalypse omnibus is getting re-issued in June. That's a favorite of mine.

Thanks, I have added New Mutants to my list! I have the complete collections for New X-Men and Astonishing already.

And that thread is very helpful, thanks for the link!

You've got some great ones on your list aleady, but as a 90's kid I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend:

    X-Tinction Agenda

    X-Cutioner's Song

    Bishop's Crossing

The Wedding of Cyclops & Phoenix

    LegionQuest

    Phalanx Covenant

Some are already out of print, but can be found for cover if you get lucky. As was mentioned, X-Men books are always hot sellers and tend to OOP rather quickly, so pre-ordering is always the safest bet for any upcoming releases you're interested in.

I'll take a look at these, thanks for the recs. And yes, I've found that if I don't pre-order I need to be watching a few online storefronts closely to see when books come back in stock... sometimes it's never, unfortunately.

Beware that early 90's X-Men is a lot better than mid-to-late 90's X-Men (at least in my opinion). And there are a bit too many crossovers with the not always steller other X-books (X-Force, X-Factor, Excalibur, etc.).

Wow, that's absolutely nuts. Thanks for the comprehensive list!

I think, given how I've already picked up enough for a solid year's worth of reading and assuming there will be successor volumes to Excalibur and New Mutants, I'll go with New Mutants for now and keep tabs on what's coming out in the future. A shame that Fall of Mutants is OOP, it would seem.

If you need any help with Daredevil, just shout. Below is a link to the Daredevil thread. On the first page, there is a comprehensive list of Daredevil Omnibuses and other DD collected editions.

    My sentiments exactly, Hive.

X-Cutioner's Song is an all-time favorite, and I consider it the end of my favorite era for the X-titles:

That one is certainly a lot better than its reputation. One of the strongest X-events of the 90's for sure (though I'm a sucker for Age of Apocalypse).

Just wanted to thank everyone here for their valuable input! I finally ordered the New Mutants omnibus and will await announcements for any future Uncanny X-Men or New Mutants/Excalibur collections. I believe I'm all set for X-Men omnis otherwise for quite a while. Excited about these reprints and new releases.
