I plan on reading it at some point. And yes, I agree with you regarding these "forcefully inserted" characters.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you point me to the costume you think would be more ideal, or less plain?

For me, I like the uniformity. It is simple but in a good way, not too overstated with right amount of subtly.

Brian's original costume and the two Alan Davis drawn ones are, IMHO, much better. The first one is a great super-heror costume. Colourful, easy identifiable, and his mask is a great design. It really stuck with me. The two Davis intoduced the classic elements that became so much associated with Brian. The tall boots and the helmet. The costume he used in Captain Britain and the MI-13, IMHO, lacks more details. It's simply a jumpsuit. Some people may prefer the sleek look, and it works for certain characters. IMHO, it didn't work well for Brian. On the other hand, I'm not much of a fan of the Britanic costume (yuck, simply yuck), of the costume he wore around Excalibur #100 (not dignified enough), and the one he wore in New Excalibur (in that case, too much details. I could stand it, but far from a favorite).

    Peace

Now that's more like it. Just splash some color and we got ourselves an ongoing.

I never finished this, and it was more of a painting exercise than a proper attempt at a picture, but nevertheless:
