Your really think more people know what Maus or Persepolis are than The Walking Dead?

Maybe before the TV show, but not after.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Not sure how it ranks in terms of popularity, but I enjoying reading Empowered.

The question isn't about ten years ago. It was asked in the now.

In Italy: Dylan Dog, Tex Willer, Nathan Never, Martin Mystere, Dampyr.
Generally speaking: I think the Eternaut is quite known.

Honestly, why not? Even people who don't read comics regularly know what Maus and Persepolis are, they're modern classics. A lot of people don't know the Walking Dead is comic-book adaptation.

But the walking dead tv show already lost its hype.

To me, the top 3 (speaking of popularity, not my own taste) ara Mirage's TMNT, Sin City and Maus. Then Judge Dredd maybe? I guess DC didn't publish original Warrior's V for Vendetta black and white stuff, did it? Because if so, I think would make the top 3.

EDIT: Now I see the Joker argument for The Walking Dead... I completely forgot. And I agree it's more popular than Maus.

I misread you. Thought you were saying Maus more popular. My mistake.

I wish Maus was. It's more deserving, certainly. I like TWD and all, but I don't think any B&W comics are eclipsing it in popularity.

I heard once that Mirage's TNMT #8, the one with Cerebus as guest, was the best-selling black n white independent comic book ever, around 800.000 copies. Don't know if it's true though.

That's my case too. I just hear people babbling these numbers.

According to the publisher, Maus has sold over three million copies.

There are some wonky questions about whether someone who buys Volume 1 and Volume 2 counts as buying two copies, which would obviously inflate Walking Dead numbers in comparison because the majority of Walking Dead fans will buy more than one volume.

Oh yeah, Maus has no doubt sold massive quantities. I believe I was in 4th Grade when I read it. They pushed it on us. Thankfully.

Walking Dead has monthly issues, trades, HCs, Omni, and eventually the compendiums. It also ran for... 10 years? It was also a top seller, basically it's entire run. It's a hugely popular comic.

The Tick was pretty popular for a few minutes. Not as popular as TWD though.
