Some of the most breathtaking, creative cartooning I've ever seen was James Harvey's "Midnight in the Phantom Zone" backup feature from Bug: The Adventures of Forager, the DC/Young Animal series by the Allreds.
Someone (NOT ME!) scanned the whole thing, and even though it's a pretty huge departure from the Golden Age Midnight, it's really something to see.

Midnight is a great name...too good to waste.
and The Spirit is a great character that has endured through the decades.
When Roy Thomas did Midnight's "Secret Origin" for Secret Origins #28 (July 1988), it had some additions / enhancements to that original 5-page story.
