Default Marauders: King in Black #1 - spoilers

The Marauders set sail on a mission to New York to rescue Storm & Cyclops, who have been possessed by Knull. To the council, the mission is clear. However, Bishop has been alerted by Beast to take both of them down if needed, and other problems arise in the meantime - Kate receives an alert that another ship near to them is almost sinking in the midst of the attack of the latex dragons and needs help. Bishop's connection with X-Force has also seemed to cause some suspicion to Pyro.

After rescuing the crew of the ship, Bishop identifies a message in morse code and goes to check out the rest of the ship. He discovers the crew were trafficking immigrants to god knows where. Immediately angry with the crew, they transport them through the gates to the most inospitable place possible, leaving them to fend for themselves. No human killings allowed!

The fate of the refugees causes a dilemma though, as Kate wants to bring them to Krakoa, but Emma and Magneto, in a telepathic conversation with her, admit that'll be a difficult decision for the council to make if put to a vote. They find a solution in bringing them to Island M, where they are welcomed by Callisto.

In the closing scene, Magneto also welcomes one of the refugees and tells her to remember this as an act of Krakoa's mercy.

The mission to rescue Storm and Cyclops is to be continued in Savage Avengers.

This was good! Addresses various debates of heroism and how that works with Krakoa being a foreign nation that people have been having since the beginning of the era. I like the introduction of the tension between Bishop and Pyro, Bishop's dealings with Beast and even Kate confronting the council. Inner tension in the team is always fun. However, if any of these plots are going to get continued in the main series, I just wish this was an issue of it and not a separate one-shot.

Art was very solid as well, and Kate specially looked stunning. Maybe the best she's looked in ages.

This has been a lot better than I expected.

It's funny how Emma is like "THE MISSION IS TO RESCUE CYCLOPS. And Storm, I guess".

How do the gates work is it like switch of sorts? Cause they were able to walk in, is it because Sage knew they were coming normally would they just walk into a wall I'm confused.

Honestly just that one interaction with the refugee made me go from not liking Magneto at all to being my top 5 favorite Marvel heroes

I allways knew Beast was petty, but i didn't know he was this petty. The fact that he basically gave Bishop permission, even though Bishop is a captain and Hank isn't even on the council to kill Scott and Ororo actually shocked me. I love love love that Duggan keeps saying omega over and over in regard to Storm so the people never forget. lol. This was a really fun issue and actually more fun than some of the main run.

Honestly a lot of Beasts actions would make sense if he was on the council. As of now he’s just one member of X-Force who keeps on making decisions that impact the fate of this entire country.

X-Force/Beast has the approval of the Council and Xavier to act at his discretion.

    A terrible decision, I know.

Yeah but i think that is in regards to x-factor. It doesn't super-cede Bishop's post as commander or at least it shouldn't. Like Beast couldn't tell Cyclops or Magik what to do when they are assuming their positions as generals.

Beyond that, Magneto was awesome in this too. I also love how they placed the refugees and as stated answered a lot of questions. You can help refugees without having to put them on the one island reserved for yourself, here in america we probably would have left them on the ship once we saw how much diversity was on the boat.

Yeah, Magneto has been pragmatic but fair. He has an island that is not Krakoa, why doesn't he use it to help humans. This saves time debating.

Why couldn't the refugees go to Krakoa? Isn't it all mutants welcome?

They weren't mutants, they were humans that other humans were trafficking and mutants saved them. But if you read the book...

How did non-mutants utilize the gates? Thought that wasn't doable, as seen when the Hordeculture said they had to figure out a bypass to access them.

Way back in HOX it was established humans could use the gates accompanied by mutants. Iceman walks through the gate, tells sage who is coming through, they even plan on where to send them, he goes out and then he escorts them through by going through the portal first.

The fact that holdeculture could bypass them and use them shows there is a way for humans to go through it in of itself.

Are people with smaller posts those who don't read the books or something? Seems a trend. I don't get the questions on books people don't read. no shade.
