I was feeling the anti-Zilla bias in the trailers as well...but saw this on this very site about America's choice of the upcoming Clash of the Titans..

Only citizens of Massachusetts, West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas, Montana and Idaho voted for King Kong to win the epic fight. Godzilla dominated the vote despite the fact that trailers for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong portrayed King Kong as the sympathetic hero. Nonetheless, support for Godzilla in the impending throwdown is so high that another hashtag, #NeverKong, grew on Twitter in opposition to a King Kong victory."

KK took quite the beating in Skull Island before he took out SLJ. Wouldn't surprise me to see SLJ survive that hammer fist.

The trailers show Kong already being given a couple of bonuses:

1. Size increased 3x. Though Kong movie stated Kong was still young though the adult skeletons did not appear much larger than Kong. The main creature that Reilly's character said was most dangerous was around Kong's size.
2. Kong is holding a club (or ax) that's resistant to Godzilla's radiation blast.

In the Japanese K vs G, Godzilla is shown vulnerable to electricity and Kong conveniently acquires a lightning power-up. Hopefully, the new film doesn't go that route.

That electricity powerup thing was b*******. They just couldn't accept Godzilla would easily wipe out Kong so they added some extra nonsense.
