Well, the Cardinals finally signed someone else to play corner who isn't Robert (always on IR) Alford, or Byron "fine slot corner but that's it" Murphy. Sure, they drafted two kids, but you don't want to start rookies at the position...

It's going to be Malcolm Butler who they snagged earlier in the offseason and Darqueze Dennard.

Still pretty sure they're going to have teams testing this secondary with quick passes.

Not sure about Dennard, but Butler doesn't have the physical tools to be a #1 corner. That's part of why Belichick was willing to part with him so quickly - although he has the drive and smarts to be an excellent #2, provided the opponent doesn't have two of the tall burner style receivers.

Some will go, "losing Patrick Peterson is gonna leave Arizona screwed..." and I'm still like, "His skills fell off. They clearly did. Malcolm Butler might be a better option than him right now."

That still doesn't mean they needed to prioritize CB this offseason. The market at the position was weak, and they apparently are content to try and get in shootouts with teams, and dare them to throw deep while hoping JJ Watt and Chandler Jones both stay healthy and get in the pocket to cause chaos.

It's a hell of a gamble. It's going to make for entertaining games to watch, but I wouldn't bank on it being a winning formula, at least not come playoff time.

Titans are trading for Julio Jones, they get Julio and a sixth rounder in 2023, Falcons get a 2nd rounder in 2022 and a 4th rounder in 2023, additionally the Titans assume Julio's entire contract

Didn't think the Falcons would actually do it until it was leaked that Julio was the one who requested the trade, torn up to see him go but on the glass half full side the Falcons got pretty much the absolute best deal they could have possibly gotten for him given his age, injury history, and the saturation of WRs over the last few years. Not having to cover any of his salary is especially huge as the Falcons are now out of Cap space prison, they can sign their rookies and even possibly nab another free agent/s

Nice, glad to see it. Made more sense for them than my Patriots.

KC I'm sure was not gonna give as much as Falcons wanted and take the full contract deal. They didn't have the cap space in 2021 to do that and with extending Hill next season they couldn't keep Jones and him together. So as much as KC floated a late rd draft pick , the cap likely played a big part here.

The Titans now are in a WIN NOW deal. They are taking the big salary cap deal the next couple seasons and anything less than AFC Championship and Super Bowl after this deal is under-achieving.

And that window for the Titans doesn't figure to be open all that long. Who knows how long QB Ryan Tannehill, a game manager at best will remain effective, and while Derrick Henry is relatively young at 27, running backs just don't have a long shelf life, and he could go south at the drop of a hat.

Just glad Jones didn't end up on SF or Seattle. Don't want to have to face that guy more than once a season in the NFC West.

Definitely a good place for Jones if you are an NFC West fan like me. Gonna be a bloodbath in the AFC south this year, with Houston doing most of the bleeding.

AH, that's a shame. I've always highly respected Julio Jones in the way he goes about it. Being dead to me will require some adjustment but I can manage well enough I guess.

Enjoy all the buffet style confederate symbolism your eyes can take in Julio!

NE bowed out of the Jones trade rather early on, according to reports. It boiled down to that NE wanted the Falcons to eat more money, or lesser picks on NE's part. Apparently, Jones was Plan B for NE as they have been talking about trying to get OBJ.

The Raiders and Seahawks made a huge push towards the end but both were unwilling/unable to eat the amount of the contract the Falcon's wanted. Reportedly, SEA was willing to give up a 1st rounder in the deal if they could assume less of Jones' contract. Sounds like it was a wild time to be his agent!

Speaking of NE, early reports are coming out that Cam Newton is ailing, Jarrett Stidham is doing better than Cam & Mac, and Mac Jones keeps getting the spotlight without really earning it.

Titans earned him, ain't no way the Pats were going to eat all of that contract so we were never really in it if the Titans had that intention. Same for most other teams not in win-now mode (even some who are, that's pricy).

On Pats QBs, hope that hand bruise thing isn't too serious. Initial reports had been it wasn't, but that they were going to rest him through OTAs. Mac has apparently looked flat, but early days. And Stidham, I dunno. Maybe hype to try and get someone to give us something (anything) in exchange before we cut him and hope to keep him on the practice squad (though for his knowledge of our system alone I'd imagine the Bills or Dolphins would sign him on the cheap).

Just heard on The DA Show (CBS Sports Radio) that former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel passed away yesterday at 71:

one week into OTAs and the injury nightmare that plagued the 49ers last season looks set to continue into the 2021 season. They have already lost 2 key contributors for the season. Offensive lineman Justin Skule suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and safety Tarvarius Moore tore his Achilles, according to a team spokesperson.
