So ... the Jags now have six TEs on the 90-man roster. Is that normal?

TE5 is not abnormal in this day and age since good, true FBs are hard to come by.

TE3 and TE4 is more normal.

TE6 is crazy, even in preseason.

Well, don't forget that the Bears went into camp with 10 TEs last year.

Six is a lot, but most teams have 3 on a 53 man roster, 4 at most.

Whenever the going gets tough, Urban Meyer suddenly remembers his "cardiac problems" and can't manage the gumption to coach anymore. His heart seems to only be in it as well as the fortunes of his workplace at the time.

Wasn't it reported Meyer nearly passed out on sidelines back in college due to headaches ? This seems to describe the issues he had with it in 2018.

There's a good chance Tebow doesn't make the Jaguars' tight end depth chart when the regular season rolls around, but fans clearly don't care much if that's the case. They'll be able to always say and show they were there when Tebow attempted a comeback in Jacksonville...

What's the quality of the presumed starter(s)? Did they, or did Meyer, run or express an interest in running regular 2 TE sets on offense? Either one justifies having plenty during camp. If they have 6 on the GameDay roster they better be really, really good ones to justify the cuts elsewhere.

4 days ago, the 49ers signed former Jags WR Marquise Lee to a 1 year deal...

They cut him today, and no one is sure why just yet.

What, J-ville's TEs? Not good from my reading. Last year they had four TEs on the active roster, all of whom started at one point or another. Eifert was the best of them, if you can call it that, catching 36 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns. And ... the Jags released him. They drafted a couple but already let one of those go. At TE, the Jags right now have a bunch of nancies who can't catch, run, block, read defenses, break coverage or even fall down properly. At the very least, when Tebow makes the roster (we all know he will) then he will be a zero sum for the team.

Lawrence has his work cut out for him, really, with this team. And also with gaining any attention away from Tebow.

More drama and turmoil for the Jags; their new special teams coach, Brian Schneider, has stepped away from the team for personal reasons. He was with Seattle last season and also stepped away for personal reasons. He has previously worked with Meyer in the college ranks, but no one is certain if this is temporary or if he will return at some point this season.

I don't doubt Meyer has a condition, but it seems to worsen whenever the long term fortunes of whatever team he's coaching for begin to be less than dominant.

He's then "better" when another opportunity at a better situation for more money is available.

Over/under on how long Meyer lasts: two and a half seasons. He has the look of yet another college coach who can't hack it in the NFL and flames out, either mildly or spectacularly. For certain the Tebow circus won't help matters any.
