I don't see Spider-Man villains popping up outside Sony/Spider-Man films.
Armour Wars could have more far reaching consequences than people think. If a large quantity of Stark Tech and their specs end up on the black market, that means they won't have to spend so much time explaining how the villain got their technology. They could just have a new Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Beetle, Scorpion and basically Joe Average villain with gadgets show up without having to do a lot of backstory on how they got their tech.
Yup, although they've already dipped their toes into Tony being the source of Ultron and the source of Mysterio's illusion-tech, so I'm not sure I want to keep dumping all the world's problems on the dude.
There's also all sorts of SHIELD/Hydra gear and tech blueprints just sort of sitting out there on the interwebs, waiting for someone with the patience of a Zemo to decrypt them...
Technically it would be Sharon's fault (and by extension Sam's fault for getting her a pardon without a full background check) since Tony had that stuff under lock down before Sharon decided to leak it to the bad guys.
However you slice it, it's a great and easy way to bring in a lot of D- and C-list villains; this is how you easily get Stilt-Man without every jackass on earth suddenly becoming a engineering super genius, yknow?
And really, at this point there's been advanced tech left lying around the MCU for fifteen-ish years, from aliens to the stuff Stark and Pym invented, and at some point that stuff is gonna start leaking out to a greater degree than we've seen. The setting is already removing itself from real world parallels with all the post-Blip stuff, and Armor Wars might be the next big step in that direction.
"We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe."
~ Black Panther.
If the heroes and the numerous agencies/companies were stupid enough to put all the technology and secrets on servers where anyone with the right clearance level with no further safeguards or security could get it is their fault, seriously Fury left a shredded paper trail when it came to bringing Coulson back to life and after the SHIELD/HYDRA leak ALL agencies and companies with any information they don't want others to get should put in more security. And if Sharon is skilled enough to become the Queen of Crime she is skilled enough to put a fake background check that a bleeding heart like Sam desperate to make up for being a douche bag to her for two years but only when the result of his inaction is standing in front of him and desperate for good PR government officials would easily fall for. If her special snowflake superidy duper special auntie could fall for literal Nazis and HYDRA agents to the point she gave them free rein to do whatever they want with zero supervision, then the U.S. government and bleeding heart heroes can fall for a long con.
Well, the government itself seems full of questionable people in the MCU
Yeah, the MCU is starting to feel more like a post apocalyptic world. Then again, so does our world right now.
I could live with most villains getting souped up thanks to leaked Stark and Chitauri tech. The only exceptions being Dr Doom, Dock Ock and the Green Goblin. The first two especially, should be the 'I built it in a cave! With a box of scraps!' types.
How dare you, Stilt Man is awesome.
