Default DC Next Dawn - February Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, FEBRUARY 2021!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    ACTION COMICS #12
    Plot by EXCITER
Writing and Art by WALT SIMONSON
“THE SUPERMAN CHALLENGE” part four, conclusion “THE EXPERIMENT”
He wanted to prove a point: people are bad. He knew this from reading minds all his life. At 16 years old, the self-styled “Psych Lord” decided to demonstrate just how bad everyone in Metropolis, the town he grew up in, really was. These people only stayed in line because of Superman. Without that big, blue hall monitor, they’d turn on each other instantly. So the young metahuman made everyone within the city limits forget the Man of Steel... and waited for the chaos to roll in.
When it didn’t, he psychically urged people towards chaos. Yet, even then, unlikely “heroes” like Catman, Superwoman, Woman-Bat, and Bizarra stepped up to do their part. Obviously, these interfering do-gooders needed to be mentally controlled and urged towards chaos themselves. To prove the point, of course.
This looks like a job for Superman... but even Clark Kent doesn’t recall his secret identity. Jimmy Olsen, however, inspired by the Question’s detective work, believes that plain old Smallville farm-boy Clark Kent may actually be the only one capable of talking to the troubled youth... of making him realize that, although the world can seem brutal and uncaring, you cannot let hard times poison your perception. Will “Psych Lord” ever understand that it’s not Superman that makes Metropolis good, but Metropolis that inspires Superman to be good on a daily basis?

    AQUAMAN #4
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by GEOFF JOHNS
    Art by JIM LEE
    “WELCOME TO AMNESTY BAY”
    Guest starring Batman!
Amnesty Bay’s famed Lighthouse has been expanded by recent construction. The seaside landmark now hosts the official Atlantian Embassy to the United States of America - and the diplomat in charge is a humble former fisherman appointed by special request of the Atlantian throne: Thomas Curry!
His son, Arthur “Aquaman” Curry, is on a quest to restore Atlantis’ greatness. But before he can do that, he’s got to secure peace with the landlubbers. He arrives personally to address the Embassy’s first major diplomatic challenge: the Trench, a swarm of vicious humanoid sea creatures, have recently made landfall in Barbados. This is uncharacteristic for the species and far from their traditional territory... as if someone were directing their movements. But who? Distrust abounds as the United States government thinks it might be Atlantis’ doing - and so does the Batman!
Meanwhile, Black Adam has determined that a U.S.-Atlantis alliance is not in the best interests of his middle eastern nation, Kahndaq. He attempts to hire the world’s premier amphibious mercenary to eliminate Thomas Curry and demolish the Embassy, but to his surprise, David Hyde volunteers to accept the job at cost. It seems Black Manta has reasons of his own to hate the Currys!
When a distracted Aquaman allows concern for his father to give Batman the upper hand in their confrontation, Arthur gasps “Thomas... got to... save... Thomas...” This changes everything. Can two heroes end their feud when they discover their fathers have the same name? Or is it too late to work together against the real threats?

    Written by ED BRUBAKER
    Art by TODD MCFARLANE
    “EVIL TWINNING”
Bruised and half-drowned, Batman finally pulls himself out of Gotham Harbor. He was left there to die after being nearly killed... by Bruce Wayne? Someone is impersonating his alter ego, but it’s not Clayface or any normal shapeshifter he’s faced in the past. There’s something more malevolent about this fiend. Something sinister about this... Doppelgänger.
It all must somehow connect to the Doppelgänger’s first victim, Mary Sue Parker. Why did the imposter kill the Wayne Enterprises executive? And who put a million dollar bounty on Parker’s killer? What was Parker involved in?
A search of her apartment, more thorough than the GCPD’s, reveals a hidden fixation with the occult. Of specific interest, there are earmarked passages from the Egyptian Book of the Dead regarding “ka,” malevolent spirit doubles. A ka of Helen was famously said to have mislead Paris and caused him to lose the Trojan War. Could Parker have summoned a ka intended to cause Bruce to lose Wayne Enterprises? Why?
Batman decides to consult his own occult-expert, Jason Blood. Unfortunately, the Doppelgänger had the same idea and got there first! Can even the Demon, Etrigan, survive the wrath of an evil entity designed to replicate Bruce Wayne?
Meanwhile, since Bruce is now a wanted fugitive, his assets have been seized. With a search warrant issued for Wayne Manor, can Alfred Pennyworth stop the police from finding the Batcave?
Fear not, though, for the well-intentioned Vanderveer "Van" Wayne arrives to help clear his cousin Bruce’s name! The only problem: Van is a total idiot!

When Der Blitz encounters an opponent as fast as he is, he radios in to his führer - and his führer’s top advisor, Vandal Savage, is very intrigued by the news. With no real loyalty to Nazi Germany, Savage’s plan to weed out the weak strains of humanity through conflict, thereby forcing the emergence of more metahumans, may have bore fruit.... but he can’t allow anyone to stop the conflict now! “BATTERY ASSAULT” part one “SEE RED”
Press Release, Oa. Ganthet: As the Universe continues to reel from the fallout of the Starro Wars, it is with great regret that I am forced to announce the temporary cessation of all Green Lantern Corps law enforcement activities. The Corps simply cannot function without a Central Battery, which we do not currently have the means to rebuild. It has been the greatest honor of my billions of years of life to supervise the safeguarding of the Universe. I hope that perhaps, one day, the Corps can return.

Lanterns never say die. After deposing Despero on Kalanor, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner agree to go on the most important assignment of their careers. Along with the Martian Manhunter, Kilowog, and other depowered Lanterns, the team boards the Javelin-7 and sets out to restore the Green Lantern Central Power Battery... at any cost!
A Central Power Battery is a reservoir capable of holding all of the combined cosmic power based on the Green Light of Will in the Emotional Spectrum. The first step to creating one is to obtain a vessel even remotely capable of holding such vast power... and Guy knows where one might be: the home of his former crew, the Red Lantern Corps - planet Gofuckyaself! But can a cadre of ringless heroes with only a spaceship and some blasters actually repossess a Central Battery from a fully-powered Red Lantern Corps? You’re about to find out!

    OUTSIDERS #16
    Plotted by randomideaguy
    Written by BRIAN BENDIS
    Art by STEVE RUDE
The Outsiders arrive in Silicon Valley, following a lead left by Cheshire back in Seattle.
Turns out there's a hot new app making it's way around town. It can answer any question - even personal ones, even ones that are government secrets. The catch? Just a little sample of your blood.
Ollie, Dinah, & Jefferson follow the trail of the app to an investor's meeting - where the creator wants to take the app worldwide. If you didn't already guess it, the app creator is Brother Blood. I'm sure he's not doing anything weird with all that blood he collected.
Except he totally is. Brother Blood uses the freely given blood of his "customers" to make himself even more powerful than he has ever been. This will be a big test for the Outsiders - considering Blackfire & Black Lightning are their biggest guns.
Ollie and his little group get thoroughly trashed at the investor's meeting. So, they regroup at their motel and plan a surgical strike of Brother Blood. Together, they make the news as they assault a public speech held by Brother Blood.
The bad guy is defeated, but team public relations is worse than ever.

    Writer MARK RUSSELL
    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
    “Can You Read My Mind?”

Carlton Cerebrus was introduced last issue as the mastermind placing the multi-zettabyte data collection and repository device into orbit around the Earth. The Aquarius Corporation is attempting to place their device online to link up database after database. But does even Aquarius realize the more classic, traditional weaponry potential Cerebrus placed into Brother Eye? We’re not really sure if that’s a pro or a con for Aquarius at this point.
On the state political front, Wesley Fermin has taken a lead in the polls and has shown himself to be a viable candidate. His wife Myra, ex-cable TV hostess, is by his side, being both eye candy and spy.
And our hero, Vic Sage and Merry, the Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks are starting to fear a growing bond between Lee Travis, the Crimson and Edward Thriller, mystery man. Doubts may be appeased a bit when we see the results. Travis and Thriller have gained the services of Valentina Vostok, Russian Cosmonaut. Are our heroes going into space?

It seems like the Titans spend a lot of time traveling on airplanes these days. But that's the gig when you're a world traveling super teen.
As with any teen romance, complications abound. Kong Kenan asks Shado Fei out, but she turns him down. Instead, Shado is interested in Duke but is too nervous to ask him out.
At least Donna Troy is showing a mature adult for the rest - giving a call to her ex-husband Terry Long and asking how he's doing.

February may be the shortest month, but there is no shortage of great comics here! My pulls:

ACTION COMICS #12 (I hope this is a worthy conclusion!)
AQUAMAN # (took advantage of my writing Detective this month to get a Batman guest spot!)
BAT-WING #19 (would have been awkward if David went in for that nightcap)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #19 (I like that Naomi asked the cannabis dealer bluntly)
DETECTIVE COMICS #12 (carrying on the story, hope you like the direction I took it!)
    THE FLASH #19
    GREEN LANTERN #19
JUSTICE FOR ALL SEASONS #3 (I always knew pudding would save the day)
OUTSIDERS #16 (I’d still trust Brother Blood’s App more than anything from Google)
THE QUESTION #19 (the best spies are usually eye candy)
TEEN TITANS #9 (they lost but… at least the fight was cool and awesome)
NEXT DAWN VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL #2 (romantic!)
Age of Marvels and DC Next Dawn - Monthly Fan Made Solicitation Competitions on these very forums, make your pulls now! Want back story? Check the Wiki!

I will buy these with money borrowed which I shall pay back next Tuesday.

ACTION COMICS #12 (I like the finish. I was planning on Mxyzptlk doing it and have Superman needing to say his name backwards o fix it.)
AQUAMAN #4 (So Aquaman is just another politician getting his family jobs?)
BAT-WING #19 (David's all like "You know Bat-Wing and I aren't as messed up as you and Wonder Woman, don't you?")
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #19 (The Magus is calling Connor's mother? Running and telling someone's mommy is no way to gain respect, Magus.)
DETECTIVE COMICS #12 (Mary Sue Parker fate, as it was originally planned has not been discovered.Perhaps it sall be. Only Batman '66 would know.)
THE FLASH #19 (I have an ominous feeling the World Wildlife Fund is going to come down hard on us if anyone uses the acronym WWF. oops, I just did, din't I?)
GREEN LANTERN #19 (There are extensive Galactic Tax Credits available for going solar to recharge your batteries. And being out in outer space so much really cuts down on atmospheric interference. Shouldn't these Lanterns be thinking green?)
JUSTICE FOR ALL SEASONS #3 (If Darkseid controls Santa, why not just ask for the Anti-Life equation in his stocking?)
OUTSIDERS #16 (I think this app would work well with Brother Eye. A mini Question/Outsiders X-over is desired.)
THE QUESTION #19 (Thank Rao, the Outsiders are pulling Cleghorn's @$$ out of the convoluted plot he's devised.)
TEEN TITANS #9 (If you're going to get your @$$ kicked, why not do it in Hawaii?)

Obviously gonna buy one of everything, just haven’t had a chance to sit down and read through everything yet.

That’d be cool! Tbh I’m running outta steam on the concept, but I really wanna at least get to the end of Vol 2.

Let's just say you definitely don't want to look at Arthur Curry's laptop! (It's mostly fish pictures)

Don't be afraid to go crazy and shake things up! Also, remember you always have the option of starting a new title, a necessary refresher from time to time.

RIG has reached out and we are in communication regarding how to best fit our concepts together for the best story. My God, I sound like a company marketing dweeb here, don't I?

    One of everything.

ACTION COMICS #12 (Cool ending, I wonder was there a general plot line for all four plotters or did you guys all come up with your own part?)
AQUAMAN #4 (Now imagine the Trench sitting at a table in suit and tie for a meeting, that would be hilarious)
BAT-WING #19 (So are the ShadowLords connected to the Shadow Cabinet in StormWatch in anyway?)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #19 (I have gotten used to the name Billy Badass, is that normal?)
DETECTIVE COMICS #12 (I love Batman vs Bruce Wayne)
THE FLASH #19 (Ha, the double lightening for SS on Reverse Flash is smart)
GREEN LANTERN #19 (They can sit down for a cup of tea on that planet, not to worry)
JUSTICE FOR ALL SEASONS #3 (I really hope everyone got their Christmas present last year)
OUTSIDERS #16 (Villains can develop a new App, new Tech, and I can't even fix my codes, sucks to be the good guys)
THE QUESTION #19 (Oh Yeah,Brother Eye, give me more.)
TEEN TITANS #9 (So why are the Great Ten after them? They didn't pay for their Chinese takeout?)
