    I'd prefer something like this-
    https://comicsalliance.com/superman-712-muslim/

Superman inspires someone else to be a superhero. Kryptonian heritage not necessary because it's better if he inspires other beings from all walks of life to be a hero.

Jon being Superman II is a perfectly valid story. It's just safe and predictable.

I would be down for this and agree that it could make a far more interesting story than what we're apparently getting from DC.

Fascinating article! I had no idea about this at all.

Boy...its crazy how much the political and media climate has changed in the last ten years. If this had happened today, DC would have been roasted and you'd probably have had people calling for the sacking of the editorial on Twitter at the very least (not to mention months of media wars between left-wing and right-wing outlets...)

That said, I like the idea of Superman inspiring someone else who's otherwise unconnected to him to become a hero. There are actually relatively few cases of this I can think of - Steel is the only one that readily comes to mind. Hell, Batman's been doing it for almost his entire history - the original Batwoman and Bat-Girl, Barbara Gordon's Batgirl, Helena Bertinelli's Huntress, the Kate Kane Batwoman etc. were all characters inspired to put on a suit and fight crime in some way by Batman, without being explicitly related to or recruited by him.
