Hey so my girlfriends parents gave me 50 Dollars back in December for Chanukah to spend and only now am I about to choose which. I am split between the Superman: The Man of Steel Volume 1 and Green Lantern: Circle of Fire and then there are others.
Any thoughts on these two collections or others you might recommend?

I think you should go with whichever character you like more, because there are two very different eras represented - as you'll see reflected in both the writing and art styles. Man of Steel is mid 80's and Circle of Fire is late 90's.
