Default Batman '89 Digital-First Series Announced

DC Announces Batman '89 and Superman '78 Digital First Series

Continuing the twisted adventures of DC’s Dark Knight from Tim Burton's seminal classic Batman movies, Batman ’89 brings in screenwriter Sam Hamm (Batman, Batman Returns) and artist Joe Quinones (Dial H for Hero) to pull on a number of threads left dangling by the prolific director. The gothic mentality behind the world, while still rooted in a sense of realism, helped inform many of DC’s global fans’ first impressions on the Dark Knight's Gotham. In the new Batman ’89 comic, Hamm and Quinones will help usher in the return of Selina Kyle/Catwoman and will debut a new Robin! Plus, Quinones has a vision for Harvey Dent/Two-Face that is as close to movie magic as a comic can get!

Well, I'm excited. I'm just sad that we're only going to get a couple of issues out of this.

It's like we were just talking about a movie continuation .

Looks like they're writing out the Schumacher movies and just continuing after Returns.

I'll pick this one up for sure. The oldest modern Batman movie and still my favorite.

The character designs released thus far are sweet: gritty, stylistically quirky, in short, Burton-like.

    Two-Face.jpg

Here's hoping Two-Face is on par with the "Lego Batman" movie style.

Oooohhhhh, I like this one the best so far. His right side looks like melted candle wax, creepy.

I'm so excited for this! We get to see Catwoman brought back, a new Robin, Billy Dee Williams Two Face! So awesome.

I think Superman could have been set after IV though- Lois still didn't know who he was with all the memory erasing he did (although they kind of weirdly imply that she might still know in that movie). It'd be cool if they could incorporate the 80's Supergirl into his, since that was supposed to be canon too.

If they ever do a tpb collection for this, I wonder if they'd also include the original Batman ('89) movie adaptation with it?

It's getting a hardcover collection in October - no mention of whether it'll include the original adaptation.
