I assume they mean because of the possibility of Jor-El/Lara being teleported away from Krypton's destruction at the last second.

Feels like the first issue was about as the most "meat and potatoes" a Superman story could get.

I thought it got the feel of the movies about right but Brainiac comes off a just bit generic atm.

Yeah a pretty solid start, for those not feeling what Action and SSOKE are doing I think this will satiate you. Feels like a step up from Venditti’s MoT work so far. Art is gorgeous as expected.

This was exactly what I've been looking for. Now, this was clear nostalgia porn for Donner/Reeve fanboys like myself, but there's nothing wrong with that every once and awhile

I was pleasantly surprised with the focus on the action.Even though clark was just swinging around his hands. Was that an uppercut? It was nice to see that.Brainiac basically chokeslamed superman. It felt like a wrestling match.I am pleasantly surprised all in all. It's always great to see pre-crisis Brainiac design and stuff..It had the vibes of the old superman vs machines and giant robots goldenage had. Also loved good ol superman under the glasses laser beam to the foot.

Aren't you supposed to smoke weed, and then get stoned? Seems like he got it backwards

    Just read it.

Unlike Batman '89, the story is a pretty by-the-numbers ''Day in the Life of (Donner) Superman''. But boy, they really nail the 'voices' of the actors! I could totally hear Reeve and Kidder's voices in my head during that early Clark-Lois scene.

Brainiac looks like a total throwback to the Silver Age, but he also looks like someone we could plausibly have had on-screen with 80's makeup and VFX.

I'm a little iffy on the possibility of Jor-El and Lara being 'preserved' in a Bottle City. I'm not opposed to the idea of one or both of the surviving per se...I kinda enjoyed the Mr. Oz arc. But to do this with the quintessential take on the Superman mythos just seems...wrong...somehow. But let's see...maybe they'll surprise me one way or the other!

My other disappointment has nothing to do with the series itself - just a sobering reminder that Brainiac is appearing in a tie-in comic-book series to a 40-plus year old film franchise but has yet to appear on-screen as a villain in a single Superman film! It's bizarre!

Personal review: It was WAAAAAYYYY too short! Basically if you've read the preview, you've already read half the book. But, without spoiling it, THIS is the Superman 3 was should have gotten. I would love to have seen Christopher Reeves fight Brainiac like this onscreen.

Let us not get too much into Superman 3 because then it is a short walk over to Quest for Peace.

I felt the same way! I enjoyed the issue but I also felt bummed that we still have never seen Superman fight Brainiac on the big screen. I dont think it’ll happen in the foreseeable future since WB is seemingly done with the traditional take of Supes.

Imagine if Quest for Peace was good, tho. I sort of want this miniseries to continue past the Brainiac solely to see if they can fix Superman IV.
