Oh, I'm 100% with you. Dick was Robin in "The Past". When did Jason become the second Robin? Also The Past.

But it doesn't seem to be how DC and a chunk of fandom want the DCU to be. I've been baffled by the calls for a consistent timeline, as if that's a mark of good storytelling, but people keep calling for one!

I also think that Damian and Bruce's relationship is way more in need of repairing than Tim and Bruce. DC didn't announce when exactly those titles will come out in 2021 so I wouldn't say it's impossible for Damian and Bruce to work together again in this title by the end of the year.

It could also be yet another anthology series where writers get to write stories with any Robin and Batman they like.
    A Robin-centric anthology seems like a possibility.

Hey, if they make Tim an adult "Robin", maybe they could bring back this outfit:

Bendis already called Tim Robin instead of Red Robin at the beginning of Young Justice which got ignored by all non-Bendis books as far as I remember.
Tim was called Red Robin in Joker War and when someone asked or talked about Robin in Detective Comics or in Death Metal they always meant Damian even after he quit. So I don't see Tim being Robin again in main continuity either right now.

But Tim is Robin in Future State, DC seems to have no idea what to do with him in main continuity and it wouldn't be the first time they make really strange decisions.
In my opinion Tim should be Red Robin or come up with a new identity that makes him stand out more.

No, he should go back to being 'Drake', or go by detective Drake/something along those lines. Ever since the New-52 hit Red Robin is simply 'Robin' with Red attached to it. Without the weight of Tim's journey Pre-52 the whole identity has lost any real relevance to his journey. Tim being in limbo now is a good thing until they find something interesting to dip him into. In regards to Future State, Tim was only Robin for that because plans changed (not just for him, but Damian as well), he would have originally been 'Drake' in the future.

On another note what take does everyone think they'll do with Bruce in The Legend of Batman? What would you like to see? Joker: A Puzzle Box, no idea what the premise will be for that one. Maybe more mystery based?

I don't care what name he takes as long as he doesn't go back to Robin. That ship has sailed. Even though I have to say that taking your last name as your hero identity is a dumb move. Bendis did not put a lot of thought into that change.
So anything but Robin or Drake if you ask me.

I do agree that they seriously need to find something for him to do. Maybe then the part of his fanbase that still wants him to be Robin can finally let go of that idea.

Nothing wrong with him going by Drake, can't be any worse than Clark using glasses to hide his identity as Superman.

It's not a matter of storytelling, it's a matter of worldbuilding. One of the potential strengths of a huge shared universe is how it all connects together, but that can't be done if the continuity is fast and loose. That shatters the illusion that all these stories take place in the same reality. Why even bother with that conceit in the first place if it's not going to be maintained?

I think "Drake" is even more silly by comparison, and a terrible codename in-context, but to each their own...

They should just double down on the "everyman" angle and just let him be a super Detective. no fancy suit, no silly codename (since they can't figure a good one out), just make Tim DC's Sherlock Holmes.

I mean if he's a super Detective Drake could work without a suit

Detective Drake has a nice ring to it. Put him in a fedora suit in the 1940s. Although I haven't been able to imagine a Tim Noir since he's still so young and was so 90s.

Yes it does. How do you convince me this is supposed to be the same character with character development if they can do whatever and be whatever, changing personality, goal, and relationship all the time?

There would be thousands of people with the last name Drake. It wouldn't be that obvious that he's using his own last name. Now a person using glasses as their secret identity? No way anyone pulls that off for long

Bendis hasn't put thought into anything for over a decade. Drake was absolutely dumb and uninspired.

Someone on these boards suggested him going by the name Rook. Still a bird, still has the "R", and alludes to his more methodical line of thinking by being a piece on a chessboard. That is something I can absolutely get behind. But him being Robin has sailed and Drake needs to go as well.

I'd love for him to simply go by that. No mask or suit needed

    I agree.

Not that I like Drake for identity, but the idea that Tim is putting his real identity at risk seem silly. There is no reason why people woukd think "Drake" is using his last name as codename.

Not to mention that we accept a domino mask cover his identity.
