As with my speculation, we don't know that for an absolute fact.
There are many instances where bits of minutiae are left out and quite possibly even forgotten...so?
Rahne not being there alongside Proteus does not change the gist of the story or lessen the impact of the reveal in any way. It's just a personal nit. I didn't even think about it until this thread, and I still like, "Enh!"

Totally agree. It’s not like this was the big emotional Moira reveal or confrontation we’ve all been waiting for. It was a small moment where Rahne probably wouldn’t have even gotten to speak.

X-Men vol2 #108 was when Moira first died. Mystique infected her with a strain of the Legacy Virus. What a bich.

That's just not the same character he's ever been.

I mean, fair enough if a character isn't going to be used, but if you're going to have them show up for the occasional panel they ought to at least be written in somewhere approaching their actual character.
Well to be fair to Moira he think she's dead. So it's a moot point to go into detail on their relationship and love if she's in hiding and he thinks she's dead. Also, Banshee has been through A LOT over the past few years. While I am sure he's happy to be in a non-zombified body he probably is dealing with a lot himself. He should be more involved with Theresa's death, but their relationship was never super close to begin with.

An obvious sign that Moira was a mutant.

Don't forget Moira's other kids, Callum, Dean and Abigail.

I think she actually sustained injuries from the battle and did not die of the virus. She had contracted it several years earlier, and was the only “human” to have been affected until Mystique tweaked the virus to affect humans in that arc.

There would've been if Mystique was good at her job.

Moira never raised Rahne and their relationship was always weird. Almost as soon as she found Rahne, she shipped her off to go live on another continent and barely saw her. Rahne was desperate for a mother figure given her upbringing and well I can buy why Moira would feel detached from her giving what we now know..

They were clearly close, though. Moira adopted her and arranged for her to be with other mutants like herself so that she could come to terms with her mutation. Rahne returned to Muir Island to recover from the trauma of being resurrected, and she joined the cast of Excalibur when she learned that Moira had the legacy virus, never really leaving her side until Moira's supposed death.
