Hey all, just a quick reminder there's a campaign going on right now in which you can make a donation to AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) + receive some merchandise. This campaign has been endorsed by Zack Snyder himself, so it's legit. The rundown is this: with a donation you will be entered into a drawing to win a unique 1/1 pair of Darkseid sneakers made by The Shoe Surgeon PLUS an officially numbered (and autographed by Zack) Darkseid statue produced by Weta Workshop (of LoTR fame).

There's also some cool shirts and posters that come with different donation levels. Please check it out and consider tossing some coin towards this campaign. It's for a great cause (that the Snyder Cut movement championed in memory and honor of Autumn) and you can possibly get some cool merchandise.

    Here's the link: https://www.prizeo.com/campaigns/l/z...justice-league

If you want to try and support the movie more directly and send your money straight to DC, I'd recommend going for some "official" ZSJL merchandise here: https://shop.dccomics.com/products?s...stice%20League

I've already donated to the campaign and made a purchase to the DC Comics store myself. So, here's a challenge for some of you to do the same.

Really illuminating interview. Regardless of whether Terrio's concepts worked for people, I think some of those studio mandates were so arbitrary and shitty. The poor planning is evident.

I believe part of the problem is WB had no producer who actually care about the source material to oversee things, so when the movies got poor reception, the corporate suits felt they had to impose their unartistic corporate mandates

That article is very illuminating in terms of the why and how of the shitshow the DCEU became, but I think Terrio is being a little naive here. Did he seriously expect the studio to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to release superhero films into theaters that were more than 3 hours long? This would be like a comic book writer scripting a 40 page comic book and being upset that it didn't make sense anymore because it was trimmed down to 22 pages.

Terrio's job was to produce a script for a crowd-pleasing blockbuster that could play as many times as possible so that the studio gets a return on their investment. That means the running time can't really exceed 2 and a half hours. There are certainly exceptions, like Avengers Endgame, but those are the outliers, not the standard. Marvel had built up a decade worth of goodwill in order for that to work. DC had not.

That said, the release order for the films certainly put Terrio in a rough spot and it sounds like he was put in an impossible position in terms of how to satisfy all the various demands of the studio executives, none of whom had any clue how story, plot, or structure worked.

It would have been nice if the DCEU could build up to a 3-hour movie. But I see what your saying

One of the biggest problems with the DCEU was the studio's desire to rake in the money that the MCU was, but being unwilling to do the work laying the groundwork that made it successful.

That's pretty much movie studios in a nut shell right now. Just about every one of them ran out and started looking at different comic books or IP's in general to try and create something to the MCU. Just about every one has bombed. It just so happens to look about a hundred times worse when the Warners does it as they are the only company that could go toe to toe with Disney on an IP level and still cocked it up.

They haven't all screwed up, Legendary's Monsterverse seems to have been a rousing success

He acts like an extra 30mins made a difference.
Chill out, Terrio. You're the guy who wrote the narrative dud, Rise of Skywalker.
Also, there's a video out of the guy who named BvS: DoJ:
    It was Zack Snyder.

It helps that Toho did it decades ago

If anything, the moral of the Monsterverse and the MCU seems to be to just keep going and try to stick the landing. The early MCU movies weren't so hot and neither were the early Monsterverse movies

It made the movie coherent and understandable. He also says he understands that the movie might not be your taste.Regardless of what anyone might think.I do believe, there is some thought and work put into these. For instances, that africa-bullet plotline doesn't make any sense in theatrical version. Why Clark decides to punch Bruce instead of talking?yeah! doesn't make sense either.batman going phantom and branding guys plotline, doesn't make sense either. And people who try to put their own spin on things do fail or end up duds,More often than not. What they are going for also plays part in that.

Do you mean the like old school monsterverse that Universal did with the old movie monsters, then yes between them and Toho they were the first at doing it. However take a look at Dark Universe and you'll see that Universal tanked it hard.

Yeah, some MCU movies in Phases 1 and 2 weren't great, but Marvel Studios persevered. And Toho has gone through actually bad movies, like Godzilla's Revenge. The MonsterVerse has had a meh reception but is still going.
