But I thought they only had one eye patch! And of course the shoulder parrot might get in the way of peripheral vision. Of course the first baseman now must wear a paper bag over his head for the rest of the season as a mark of shame.

Whenever I feel sad about my team, I turn on a Pirates game.

Watch the play first, then read the description. I'm...not sure how he did that. Magic, as per his name, I suppose. But...seriously, how did NONE of the Pirates SEE that?
Wow! No wonder the Pirates have been irrelevant for the last thirty years or so.

So Ohtani was supposed to start, but the team bus got caught in traffic. He evidently needs 3 hours to warm up, and didn't get it, so he was scratched for whoever else the Angels could con into pitching for them. Wonder how often something like that happens?

That probably happens in New York to the Mets and Yankees more than a little, given the unholy traffic snarl ups there. Maybe to the Dodgers too.

Different sport but I remember this happened to Andrew Bynum of the Lakers on a few occasions, and it's one of the reasons Kobe Bryant traveled via helicopter whenever he could

Apparently the Toronto Blue Jays are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Robert Alomar.

Non-rush hour traffic isn't that bad here. If they time their travel, shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, got my fingers caught and twisted...very easy to break something or tear something. Was in a cast for months, the thing just didn't want to heal. Which was why I winced when I saw Ozuna break those fingers. As for that pitcher, I don't know who he is, or which team he plays for, but he has my sympathy.
Well the Braves might not be getting Marcell Ozuna back even when those fingers are healed. He was arrested on a domestic violence charge this weekend and it looks like MLB will be opening an investigation into the matter, so he will likely be suspended minimum until the investigation is completed and depending on the outcome substantially longer. Ozuna was charged with aggravated assault strangulation -- a felony that carries a minimum of one year and maximum of 20 years in prison -- and misdemeanor battery -- family violence, according to the records. Braves are going to likely have to try to replace his bat for the long term. not just a couple of months.

Damn. I wish they'd live up to my expectations, not down to them. I hope the Braves thought to put a morals clause in his contract so they can shed him without too much fuss. I don't see how at this point the Braves are going to replace him. Who can they bring up? Who can they trade for? Without a productive bat in that slot; they seem to be mired at around one game under water. They win one, then lose one, and on and on.

So...it looks like a write off for their season IMO. As for Ozuna, what can I say?

Ah, MLB, land of the 3 ball walk, (seriously, did no one keep track of the balls and strikes in a MLB game), and of running into the fence at full speed without looking, (Twins IIRC). Meanwhile, I watched the first Braves game since Ozuna got arrested, and lo and behold, according to the hesitant announcers, it's all just an IL thing, not a beating your wife sort of thing. Seriously, they barely mentioned his name, and then they tried to make it seem that he was just injured. By contrast, the visiting broadcast team did mention it right off the bat, without dwelling on it, just noting that he's basically out indefinitely, until they sort his situation out, (and I presume ban him from MLB).

Dumb guess: Perhaps the Braves announcers were under orders (from TBS or whoever broadcasts their games) not to mention the mess with Ozuna. Besides, it's not like what he had done happened in a vacuum, fans no doubt already knew thanks to TV news/newspaper/internet reports.

I get that the NL West is the scariest in the league right now. Some great and powerful teams. But damn does every national MLB sports show have to lead off and talk about the NL West for the first ten minutes of their show.

Hey, it's the best division in baseball, so why not give NL West the love it deserves? It's either that or gush over AL East which means yakking about the Red Sox and Yankees, and that movie is older than dirt.

I dont mind them talking about the Yankees right now because it is mostly on how bad they suck right now.

And speaking of sucking. I have never been more embarrassed to be a Reds fan. We have a pizza place in town called Larosas. They do a give away, when Reds pitchers strike out 11 they give free pizza to the fans.

So top of the 9th. Phillies winning 17-3 there are two outs Reds have 10 strike outs. The Phillies batter just stands there. he is not even in a batter stance and lets the Reds pitcher strike him out. he took the out to end the inning so The Reds can get to 11 strikeouts and give the fans their free pizza. It was damn embarrassing.
