That seemed inevitable. Meanwhile, the Phils avoided the embarrassment of having baseball's longest streak without a playoff appearance which is now at ten years after Seattle was eliminated yesterday and is now on a TWENTY year skid.

Uh-oh, the odds against the Dodgers just got worse. In the wake of losing Kershaw for the post season, they've now lost Max Muncy, likely for the playoffs. They may skate by the Cards, who lost the season series to the Dodgers and lost at least one game recently...so who knows. But in an actual series, against the Giants, without Kershaw AND Muncy...

I have been pretty much cheering for the Sox to lose all season. Tomorrow though at Fenway Park the Sox play the Yanks. I hope the Sox kill em...then I hope the Sox go into the playoffs and blow it like I know they will.

The M's rebuild looks to be going WAAAY better and faster than anticipated.

I cannot believe they were in it up until the last game of the season.

I think they are going to be a fun unit to watch in the coming years.

Strange playoff picture. The Dodgers had a better record by far than any team in baseball, except a team in their own division, making them a wild card.
Meanwhile the Braves walk in as division leader with the worst record going into the playoffs.

Well, in the playoffs, most teams go to a three man rotation. Facing Max Scherzer, Walker Buehler and Julio Urias (the NL's lone 20 game winner) will be a tough road to hoe. As for Muncy, I'm sure the Dodgers will figure something out.

Well I suppose it's better for the Dodgers than in years past before the Wild Card was added, when they would have had the second best record in baseball and not make the playoffs at all because they didn't win their division.

Yes, congrats to the Dodgers to be the first team in MLB history to win 106 games and not win their division! Way to go champs! Well, until the new winner is crowned.

With the Giants having won NL West with a franchise record 107 wins, that will probably lock up NL Manager of the Year for Gabe Kapler who couldn't break 81 wins in two seasons here in Philly.

Mets are moving on from Luis Rojas and not picking up the manager's contract. I wonder how many more managers will be fired before the off-season begins.

If irate Phillies fans had their way, Joe Girardi would join Rojas on the unemployment line. Some clueless fans here have whined that the Phils should've kept Gabe Kapler, failing to understand that the team failed because of a serious lack of talent, not because of any managerial acumen, or lack of same. I think Girardi is safe going into the '22 season, but he's sure to be on the hot seat.

Veteran umpire Joe West, who holds the MLB for most games umpired, has informed MLB he is retiring after this post-season. He's been umpiring MLB games for 44 years.

As controversial and sometimes frustrating an ump West is he's a fixture of the league, it'll be a shame to see him go. Maybe Angel Hernandez won't be far behind cause NOONE will be sorry to see him retire

This happens to literally every sports league that has a division/wildcard system at some point or another, there's nothing wrong with it, all the games the Dodgers won they had 19 head to head games with the Giants and lost 10 of them, it's not like they didn't have every chance to win their division
