Haven't listened yet but here's the description:

In this week’s episode of Off Panel, writer Vita Ayala joins the show to chat about New Mutants and the world of the X-Men. Ayala discusses the video conference era, X-Men origins, learnings from Prisoner X, answering questions in the work, how their New Mutants run came together, what’s up with the kids, the New Mutants as teachers, the greatness of Rod Reis, the vibe of the book, X of Swords, synergizing powers, planting seeds, carrying collaboration into other projects, and more.
    Previous HiXmen related ones:

Off Panel #233: Marauders’ Map with Gerry Duggan
Off Panel #228: Trust the Process with Jonathan Hickman
Off Panel #215: Data Pages with Tom Muller
Off Panel #44: Maximum Hickman with Jonathan Hickman (this one is pre-X-Men but he talks about his experiences at Marvel and his process)

So basically the New Mutants are the 'graduates' who aren't quite X-Men, don't really want to be X-Men, and are trying to figure out who they are and what their place is in this new world.

not X-related, but I don't suppose there was any mention of whether Vita's NEBULA miniseries is ever going to be completed?

Sad thing to be doing at the late 20's/early 30's

Unfortunately because of the stupid sliding timeline they're probably only early twenties.

They’re in their early twenties at most? But they already are X-men (well not new elected X-men). They were X-men during the Utopia era. So it’s just a step backwards for them. And they’ve been teachers, too. It would be interesting to see them interesting and striking out on their own. Not like those Brisson issues though. I just hope they don’t get sidelined teaching, I hope there are adventures that don’t involve saving the newer new mutants from dumb teenage stuff they’re going to do. Haha

I haven’t listened to it. Do they talk about CoTA?

    Yupp. Pretty much.
Although...I have to say as a rule, I generally ignore the sliding time line

Also, they're essentially living in a post-scarcity society. They don't really have to do anything if they don't want to.

Karma was 19 in New Mutants special #1.

She’s older than Rogue and Rachel. I believe the same age or close to Colossus.
