Would not be surprised if they eventually referenced this. This creative team has been deep diving the mythos frequently in this first season. We got The Eradicator, Steel, Dabney Donovan, Thaddius Killgrave, super thunderclap, Atomic Man, Xkryptonite, and other somewhat obscure bits of lore referenced. Its refreshing after so many incarnations just cribbing from past live action versions and the Donner films. The writers clearly understand that there is thousands of issues of comics too to draw from.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.

Hearing tonight’s episode is one of the best they’ve made and has one hell of a cliffhanger! Can’t wait for it to hit the CW website!

    All right, one episode left!

-I never caught that girls name but she's the daughter of a Flash villain? any guesses?
-did Irons do that on purpose or was that sheer luck? someone tell Lois to avoid that rooftop going forward
-We'll definitely be avoiding the mass destruction of the movies in the show, kryptonian vs kryptonian combat is desfinitely less 9/11-y
-with smallville all but dead economically, I really wouldn't mind if the Kents and even the Cushings just move back to Metropolis
-So Edge put his dad's ghost into his nephew?
-I think the shades would look goofy in live action, I'm ok with them being left out.
-I don't know how Superman will stop the Eradicator and save Jordan, but I kinda doubt it'll be with a handgun.

I absolutely need to play catch up with this series! I haven't had time to watch it proper, and in the image up there is that the Eradicator?

Any guesses on which Flash villain that girl is the daughter of?

    Loved the Jon/John stuff.

If they can stick the landing, this will be a very successful first season.

Yep, the show’s take on Eradicator anyway.

Thoughts on #SupermanAndLois (SAL) Episode 14 "The Eradicator", with spoilers below ...

    1. This episode, the previous episode ("Failsafe"), and most certainly the next and final episode are basically SAL Season 1.5.

First season originally ended with Superman expelling Zod from his mind, defeating Morgan Edge, and welcoming John Henry Irons into the fold. These last three episodes were an add-on that so far seems to be paying off.

    2. There is no Morgan Edge, only the Eradicator.

The Eradicator is a legitimate "frenemy" of Superman in the comix. He was a big part of the now iconic Reign of the Supermen storyline back in the 90s. Always wanting to restore Krypton on Earth. He's just as likely to be an ally in battle as he is to be a sworn enemy.

I was hoping he'd look a bit more comic-book accurate, but the motivation being the same is good enough for now.

    3. I'll say it: Leslie Larr has massively underrated super-villain energy. I'm not big on Evil Kryptonians in general, but anyone who pulls this much from DCEU Faora is someone I hope gets used more next season.

    4. Really liked the scene between Jonathan and John Henry Irons. Jonathan trying hard to bond to his newfound "uncle" only to be (initially) rejected is clearly setting up a future mentor/mentee relationship.

Also, mentioning his daughter Nat's "last months of her life" is definitely going to be circled back to next season.

    5. With every episode, Elizabeth Tulloch's performances climb a little bit higher in my esteem. She's going to take the GOAT Lois Lane crown sooner rather than later.

Her facial reactions when that distraught mother at the town hall meeting yells that "you don't know what it's like to lose a child" was such great acting.

    6. The Kyle Cushing Redemption Tour continues.

Dude still has a very punchable face, but they are doing their level-best to make him likeable. And it may be ... working? I mean, I don't roll my eyes whenever he's onscreen anymore. That's good, right?

    7. "Do I look like someone who gives out classified intel to drunk teenagers?"

Line of the night goes to Sam Lane, who is also far less antagonistic lately.

    8. Superman and Steel teaming up to take on the Eradicator and his henches will never get old. This show knows how to tap that nostalgia vein.

And that long-distance boomerang hammer toss by John Henry to save Lois from Leslie Larr was so badass!

    9. The Eradicator hunting down Jonathan and Jordan (and Sam and Sarah Cushing) in their car at night reminded me of the first Tyrannosaurus encounter in Jurassic Park.

The Eradicator no-selling their car crashing into him was the most simple yet impressive way to show just how powerful he is.

    10. Poor Jordan.

He had little chance against Morgan Edge in an earlier episode, and absolutely no chance against the Eradicator here. And now Morgan Edge's more evil dad (aka Diet Palpatine) has control of Jordan's body.

Bottom line: this episode was less about Tyler Hoechlin (still routinely great in this episode) and more about everyone around him. And that isn't a bad thing here. The show is making me care about characters beyond the two title leads, and that's impressive when the leads are literally Superman and Lois.

But we also get Superman beautifully crashing thru buildings fighting bad guys. The show is a fully balanced breakfast.

    Grade: 8/10.

Next up: The Real, True, Final Season Finale in one week!

-Yep they’re going with the Rebirth take on the Eradicator as a houser of Kryptonian souls, and he’s got the ability to implant them into people by himself now. That’s a good way to reestablish the stakes even after all the setbacks. That it also seems to destroy Edge as a person explains why he didn’t go that route from the start
-Oh sweet they haven’t forgotten about Smallville’s problems, without Edge’s money the town’s decline is accelerating
-I’m on Sam’s side here, feel like it’s unfair of Lois to tell him to be honest when he can’t without telling Smallville the truth about the Kents
-Oh damn are the Cushings actually going to leave? Really like that bit from Lana about how Edge killed the communal spirit of Smallville since the show has made a big point of emphasizing that same spirit as a key part of why Clark is Superman in the first place
-Lol Jordan continues to be a huge dork
-Jon’s like the annoying little brother to Irons (or maybe a painful reminder of the daughter he lost)
-Chrissy selling the Gazette to a conglomerate? Ouch, especially after she called out Lois for selling out that’s a backstab
-Ok so I really like how the show has circled on back to the theme of Smallville’s unstoppable decline that was a big part of the first episode. Both Clark and Lois talking about how they’re not sure how they can save the town, that key people/organizations are seemingly going away, it’s all bringing around back to that original theme
-Honestly amazed they were able to have so many people in the town hall scene even with COVID
-Well at least not everyone at the station hates Kyle
-Eradicator finally rescuing Leslie! Damn they could not have ended that town hall on a worse note, **** is about to hit the fan
-Back to Metropolis! Guessing Edge is going to go on a possession spree
-So the traditional dynamic of Jon being responsible while Jordan being immature has been flipped in this episode, Jon’s the one now advocating they blow off Sam’s calls. Guessing it’s Jon reacting to Irons telling him off. Oh damnit not Tegan again lol
-So just as Kyle comes around to staying he gets that offer for a job in Bristol? Lol that’s some good drama. And Sarah is totally mad she’ll have to lose her bf
-Aw yeah fight scenes time! Pretty destructive without being MoS disaster porn feels like a good medium
-Huh Tegan is the daughter of a supervillain? One of Flash’s Rogues? God I hope she’s not trying to pull a fast one again lol
-Oh **** Leslie about to duplicate Lois’ death! That’s one hell of a scene to cut to commercials
-Hell yeah, what a save from Irons! Lmao and he got the other one too, reminded me of that one Thor scene from Hickman’s Avengers!
-“Do I look like someone that gives classified intel to drunk teenagers?”
-Oh **** Eradicator came after the boys! Holy crap I’m surprised any of them besides Jordan survived that crash
-Damn now he’s got Jordan, definitely following the Rebirth story with the Eradicator’s plans for Jordan. Oh **** the Eradicator put his dad inside Jordan!

Ok that was great, really excited for the season finale next week!

I totally understand why they wouldn't want to do it, but I'd love it if Eradicator put on those dumpy 80s shades at one point.

One man's dumpy is another man's fire. You shut your mouth, they're rad.

Like the Super-Mullet, I have no problem understanding that they're both dumpy and rad.

That sound you hear is Dan Jurgens's exhasperated sigh as he tries again, futilely, to convince us for the millionth time that it wasn't a mullet goddammit, even though it was....it really was.

Same tends to get hit with informed wrongness in this show.

-Oh damn are the Cushings actually going to leave?
    Kyle probably will.
