I want to think that but part of me really feels like he's gonna die in the finale and they're gonna replace him with Nat.

That would blow, I hope not. Natasha is cool but John is my guy and I don’t want to lose him. I don’t think that will happen though.

Yeah, I think they've spent too much time building up to kill him off.

I would love to be wrong but the cynical part of me is in the back of my mind yelling at me.

It's not like I'm rooting for her to be dead or anything, but it really, really feels like they're setting it up that she is dead, and a huge part of this Steel's inability to consider that this Superman won't turn out like his world's is because he's a grieving father, and part of his story arc is going to be coming to terms with that and that our Superman isn't that monster and killing him won't make it better or be what his daughter would want.

At least that's my feel for it right now.

I don't know about that - actually showing her for her to die is a much better effective emotional gut punch to make the audience feel and care for Steel and his albeit misguided mission than to not show her and just tell us he has a dead daughter.

    Loving the series...

Thought, Jonathan using the hammer. Perhaps this is how Jonathan becomes a hero? Never gets powers but becomes Steel down the road?

That thought ran through my mind, but I doubt it.

I see him more going down the "jealous brother becomes villain" road. Or Jordan loses it and becomes a villain himself. One of the two.

Explicitly confirmed by the showrunner that Jon doesn't actually have it in him to ever be a bad person/go bad.

We walk on the path to Secher Nbiw. Though hard fought, we walk the Golden Path.

Would be kind of weird when Steel's supposed to be a black guy and his niece.

Yeah, optics would be pretty dang bad if that were the plan, so hopefully they stay far away from that.

At most, I'd be into the idea of John relating to Jon through the idea that he's more like Lois' kid than Jordan is because he doesn't have powers (and seems to share some character traits). If they want to extend it to Jon becoming a hero via this dynamic, then maybe John helps him use a less evil-y version of X-Kryptonite. Maybe the idea would be John's judged the boy's character, sees the Lois in him, and feels like he'd be "Superman done right", or act as a "check" to Clark (and Jordan)?

A lot to put on a kid at once, so maybe it's more of a contingency plan that sleeps within Jon till much later?

As Superlad and others have said, optics alone will stop that from happening.

That's VERY good news! Now that I think about it, though... since Jon has always been the "well-adjusted" one and Jordan looks more like comics' Jon... I could see Jonathan getting Connor-like powers and his version of "acting out" could be the leather jacket/piercings/etc thing that Connor did in the 90's. That could be kinda cool.

Things are moving faster than I thought they would. They already know that Lois is his wife on another Earth. And Jon already knows about Nat.
