My first X-Men comic was actually a reprint collection of the first appearances of Rogue, Wolverine, Mr. Sinister and Gambit that they did when the cartoon was out.

Only two of those were Uncanny Reprints.

My first New Mutants book was #70 with Gosamyr. Thanks, Louise Simonson.

    Uncanny X-Men #298!

    Uncanny X-Men #298 - cover.jpg

I picked it up at a newsagency at a shopping centre I was at with my Mum in Tasmania. I had no idea what was going on at the time but I was hooked by all the colorful weirdness! At that point I knew the cartoon existed and I saw ads for X-Men books in other comics I read but I didn't know much outside of that. Been collecting them ever since. Went back and got all the issues that came out before it too, in trades for the most part, but I had to find a lot of floppies that weren't collected in trade, took a good while but I did it. Honestly, it is probably a good thing I moved to the U.S 'cause it would've been much more difficult to find all those issues if I stayed in Australia at that time I think.

First X-Men comic? Probably New X-Men #117. I cant recall the exact issue but I can definitely say the series was my starting point.

    For me, X-men #1...

I’d been a Spider-man fan and was really into the Todd McFarlane run, and read the issues where Wolverine guest-starred (and helped solve murder mystery involving the Wendigo). Young me thought, “Damn, this guy is badass! I want to learn more about him.” And eventually saw him on the cover of X-men #1 and picked it up. From that point on, I was hooked on the mutants.

Mine too. Art really hooked me. Great cover. The team was falling apart and I just had to find out who all these people were. This is what got me hooked on X-men
