Oh boy, I feel I'm gonna make a few of you feel very old.
My first comics with X-Men was probably somewhere in 2003-2004 and it was X-Men Evolution comics in polish magazine "Mix Komiks" (I was 9 yo).
The next one, picked more consciously was X-23 one-shot by Liu in 2010

I can't remember if I got a single issue first, which would have been Uncanny X-Men #422 or if I read a trade first with either X-Men #1 or Giant-Size X-Men #1. I think it was probably that issue of Uncanny.

A re-collection of Giant Size X-Men simply titled X-Men, with extra stories in between the original story that's clearly not drawn in the 60s
