If they're already up to λ (lambda), the eleventh letter in the Greek alphabet, that must mean there have already been ten variants--if they are going in alphabetical order. What happens when they go through all twenty-four Greek letters? Seems like a flawed taxonomy. I'd think scientists would be more scientific in their approach to naming viruses and their variants.

They do have scientific names, but this video is pretty good at explaining the origins of the Greek alphabet naming system.

    Thanks.

Although for me, I didn't know about this new naming convention right away. When I turned on the radio and they were talking about a Delta variant, I thought there was a major outbreak in Delta (which is close to Vancouver, where I live). I was worried about those poor people in Delta and wondering how the variant had managed to spread so fast from their community. It took a few days to click that it wasn't an outbreak in Delta but rather the Greek letter ( 𝛿 ). I'm not always quick on the uptake.

In America, if they called it the Indian Variant (where they believe it originated) too many assholes would start attacking Native Americans.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

They already attack Native Americans because they think they are (so called) illegal aliens.

Clearly their grasp of history is faulty.

Most of the people here that I interact with have had the vaccine. I even wonder if anyone on the CBR Community Forums hasn't had it (assuming that they have access to it).

Why scientists are talking about viral load and the delta variant

The delta variant is thought to be the most contagious of all the known variants to date, with research suggesting it's more than twice as transmissible as the original strain of the coronavirus. What sets delta apart, experts say, is how much virus is produced by those who are infected — a measure known as viral load.

"We've seen through testing that people infected with the delta variant have more virus in their samples than people who had any other subtype of the virus," said Susan Butler-Wu, a clinical microbiologist at the University of Southern California. "That's a large part of what's going to account for this enhanced transmissibility."

Viral load is a term that refers to how much virus is present in the body. A study conducted by Chinese researchers that has yet to be peer-reviewed found that people infected with the delta variant had viral loads that were up to 1,260 times higher than the viral loads of individuals infected with the original strain that circulated in 2020.

Pharmacists Fight Off COVID Truthers Demanding Horse Medicine Instead of the Jab

It’s not snake oil, literally. But as bogus COVID-19 miracle drugs go, horse paste comes pretty close.

As coronavirus infections rage among the unvaccinated, those suspicious of the shot are championing a new supposed COVID-19 cure. Thanks to a dubious study of ivermectin, a drug used in humans to treat parasites like scabies, cranks have seized on the drug as the new solution to coronavirus prevention and treatment.
Devotees have besieged pharmacists with prescriptions from shady online prescribers, forcing pharmacies to crack down and treat the antiparasitic drugs like opioids. As human-approved ivermectin prescriptions have been harder to come by, enthusiasts have taken to raiding rural tractor supply stores in search of ivermectin horse paste (packed with “apple flavor!”) and weighed the benefits of taking ivermectin “sheep drench” and a noromectin “injection for swine and cattle.”

“There is certainly a noticeable increase in calls to poison centers regarding ivermectin being misused,” a Texas-based poison control specialist, who requested anonymity due to concerns of repercussions, told The Daily Beast via email. “It’s clear that a vast majority are associated with a belief that it will prevent or treat COVID. That said, I do want to be careful not to be sensational—there’s no epidemic of ivermectin overdoses in hospitals, but it’s needless suffering given the lack of conclusive evidence of a benefit.”

    Arnold says something smart.

Neighbors’ Deaths From Covid-19 Have an Arkansas Town Reassessing Vaccines

GREENWOOD, Arkansas—Michael Lejong fully intended to get vaccinated for Covid-19, his wife said, standing in the pavilion that the prominent architect designed for his hometown.

But he was relatively young, very healthy and not overly concerned about the virus. He wanted to get his shots separately from his wife, so he could care for her if she had adverse side effects. She got hers immediately in April and he put his off.

In late June, he began feeling sick and tested positive for Covid-19. A week of mild symptoms turned into extreme fatigue. On July 3, he was admitted to a nearby hospital with low oxygen levels; on the 15th, doctors put him on a ventilator. He died four days later.

The death of the 49-year-old Greenwood native, father of two, community leader, mountain biker and outdoorsman, has rattled this western Arkansas town, where it seems like nearly everyone knew Mr. Lejong.
A nurse who lost both her parents to Covid-19 says she does not regret their decision not to get the vaccine, but that she resents judgment from friends asking why they didn't get the shot: “Some people make us feel like it’s our fault they’re gone.”

They'll do ANYTHING, but admit they were wrong. And if they continue they'll will be dead wrong too.

I'd rather dangerous freedom then peaceful slavery.

This is a sign a nurse in the covid unit of a Northern Kentucky Hospital has made for the walk out protest planned at 5 pm at this hospital today. It is a protest about the hospital mandating covid vaccine for all workers. They are on a dead line of Oct 1st and if they do not get it by the dead line they are fired. Medical Exemptions of course for those who cant get it.

A follow up story on the news has doctors in the area reporting a nearly 325% spike in requests for Medical Exemptions by health care workers in my tri state area by medical staff and hospital workers because every major hospital ion my area has the Vaccine mandate.

Several workers say it never should have come down to a mandate and it is unfair.

You know what it never should have come down to a mandate. Get the fucking shot!

    Good fucking god!
