Probably a misleading trailer scene. The trailer looks like Peter and his friends are talking to Otto, but it could be just an editing two different scene together.

I'm thinking Peter and friends are acutally talking to Tobey or Andrew's Peter.

Either way the trailer is cut in a way that we are meant to agree this is an obvious joke, when it's never been that case in comics.

The humor was very cringe. Someone on Reddit pointed out how his name is Peter Parker and he hangs out with Stephen Strange and Happy Hogan, but Otto Octavius is too much. Like, really?

It'd be one thing if the character called himself Doctor Octopus, or if this was Doom and he was Victor von Doom. But Otto Octavius are both actual real world names. I mean yeah they both have a connection to 8 in Italian and Latin but that's not something a general public will know without picking up dictionaries and the trailer is cut in a way that we are supposed to immediately laugh at the name.

I pity the real-world kids called Otto who the movie just declared open season to bully.

It's frustrating for me to not at least get confirmation of them because I promised myself I wouldn't see the next MCU Spider-Man film, but that I'll break my promise if Tobey and/or Andrew return. I'll have to buy tickets in advance, though, so if they're not in it I essentially got played.

MCU movies are all about the clickbait and less about the films as films, anyway. The social experience of spoilers breaking and discussing it online is equivalent to watching the thing more or less.

The shot from the spanish language trailer is hilarious. I almost feel like they leave in moments like that just so everyone can see "Hey guys, we clearly took something out of this shot!"

My guess it will Andrew, getting to make up for AM2. That's a nice beat. And if the rumors about how they are going to handle the character turn out to be true, a perfect ending for him.

The trailer skewed rather dark for me.
I hope good things for this film but I have some foreboding feelings, depending on how the story is handled.
Officially, I still don't know who the villain is. I see Otto as a semi-ally, kind of? I still don't know what's going on.
I hope that Michelle is kept alive. they already killed Gwen in ASM-2, which I hated. Don't do this again. Especially if the agenda is to bring in "the real" (read: white) 'Mary Jane'. Don't do it, Columbia/Marvel.

oh that would be bad message that someone will definitely try to push. Maybe this is set up for garfield spider-man to redo his save or this is just a callback to when tobey mj fall as well. If anyone going to die in this film I think its Aunt May cause who see her run in one scene and I think tom is telling her he cant save everyone

At this point Tobey and Andrew being in it is going to be the biggest open secret in film history.

At this point, I'm expecting this to be marketed such that it opens, does huge first day or two, and then sometime that first weekend they start running ads showing off the other two Spideys to catch people who didn't follow the rumors but may have heard about it from people who saw the movie already. Get that last bit of market share.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but I can't imagine why else you don't run with it in the marketing.

Let me say that I was impressed they found a way to do Ditko's Electro look for the first time.

As for the rest.

Listen all the Trash Spider-Man fans, I get some of you with low aesthetic sensibilities cannot appreciate the brilliance of the Goblin costume, but at the least acknowledge that it's not been replaced with something better here, Egad...



I mean seriously, this is worse than the Harry Goblin look (which was intentionally trashy).

I also don't get what's funny about the name "Otto Octavius" I mean both are actual real world names (names of Emperors and Tyrants, i.e. Otto von Bismarck, and Octavian who became Caesar Augustus). It's not like Otto introduces himself as Doctor Octopus (which he never used in the first film).

Likewise, I don't get the retcon that MJ finding out Peter's identity was the only normal week he knew (for one thing that was also the week he battled Mysterio, got hit by a train, came back to NY and got his identity exposed).



PS: Will also say that the leaks about the Statue of Liberty stuff seem to be accurate or at the least based on something legit.

The funny thing is that his name is Otto, and then his surname is Octavius, and then he gets four extra limbs and becomes Dr. Octopus.

Lee did these alliterative names because he had bad memory.

People also make fun of funny names in real life.

There was also a joke about his name in Spider-Man 2.

"A guy named Otto Octavius gets stuck with eight limbs. What are the odds?" or something along the lines. JJJ says this.

I knew someone was going to nitpick this and forget that Raimi also did this.

It's good to see Doc Ock again!

It's kind of sad that Green Goblin is still rocking that Power Rangers look.

I kept thinking "Who is that low energy hobo Ganke and Peter are hanging out with?" Then I realized that it was MJ. I'm ready to say bye to this character. If the Spider-Man that is trying to catch her fails I won't mind at all. This character never seemed to realize what movie she was in or the role she was playing. Laura Harrier from Spider-Man homecoming would have made a much better MJ, but for some reason she was cast as Liz.

What a world we live in to go from Spider-Man 3 being dinged for having too many villains to now having all the Spider-villains on top of three Spider-Men.
