Hey, I'll read it! Anyone who can write a story that can make Colonel Computron a viable DC villain for the 21st Century will have pulled off the greatest character rehabilitation miracle this side of Cisco Ramon.

It almost always seems to be the opposite for me.

Hell, "Goody Rickles" was probably outdated back in 1971!

I hate to say it, but the Silver Age Green Lantern.

Like it or not, fighter pilots, test pilots, and even astronauts don't hold the cache they did in the early 1960s.

What? Hell no. Everything that is debatable about him can totally be explored in interesting ways. There are a lot of dichotomies to him.

This is really what it comes down to for most ppl.
A good writer though, who has an interest in a character, can make that character work.
    And speaking of B’Wana Beast...

    Slam Bradley sprung to mind.
And hey! JLU showed B'Wana Beast can be cool!

The fact that it doesn't could just be a new wrinkle to his character - he can still have been inspired by those guys (like his dad) even though it's not cool anymore. It's also just his dayjob - it doesn't affect him being a kick-ass GL. The spirit of what he represents should be timeless. But yeah, I'm going to defend my guy Hal.

I don't think avoiding Dick's origins is the right play. Dick's origins don't need to be tied specifically to a circus, but rather a show that evokes one. I don't think there's anything essential about Dick being around circus animals when he's growing up either. The important bits, to me at least, are that Dick's from a family of acrobats and spent his childhood with a travelling group of performers. The rest is pretty malleable.

I also don't think anything being feasible is something that should ever really come into play with Bruce Wayne and Batman. If people are willing to accept the cape as something any martial artist would use, then feasibility has already flown out the window

Slam Bradley is actually timeless. In other eras he's called Mannix, or Hunter, or McClain, or Dekker.

I've said it elsewhere, but my answer to Robin is to cast his parents in a traveling version of Cirque Du Soleil.
