seems like typical animated schlock but i dont think the pitch of "rebooting blazing saddles" is necessary

This isn't Blazing Saddles. This isn't even Blazing Saddles in name only. There's no black/white racism and no cowboys.

Blazing Samurai "teaches kids and adults alike that embracing diversity is what truly makes you a hero."
Blazing Saddles didn't have a feel good lesson either. It wasn't about embracing diversity. It was more "racist people are so F^%$ing stupid."

Who thought this was a good idea?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I will admit, I laughed at the very last scene.

    “AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”

    …….

Yeah, I get the feeling "Blazing Saddles" must have been mentioned in the elevator pitch rather than part of the actual plan. You know, like..."Our movie will be Die Hard but on a bus!"

"I got this great idea for an animated film, it'll be like Blazing Saddles but with cats and dogs...in Japan!"

So it went from not being Blazing Saddles to nor being Fists of Fury.

It sounds like it might take some inspiration from Blazing Saddles, but it isn't a remake. I do like the bit of a cowboy film inspiring a samurai film though - it's often been the other way around.

I don't think you could remake Blazing Saddles in any real way. Even though it makes fun of racism, people often miss that it's making fun of it, amazingly enough. Removing the N word would not be enough.

As Mel Brooks put it, it was a movie in its time for its time.

In my opinion, one of the two funniest movies ever made, the other, that rivals it for number one, being another Brooks movie, "Young Frankenstein".
    Power with Girl is better.
