Default Cover Contest Mar 3 -Mar 9: Show me your lovely sternocleidomastoids…

What I like in this contest is searching covers… So, I prefer when the subject is not obvious. Once the cover is found, the search is finished… and it’s a bit sad. I don’t know if I’m the only one in that aspect.

I read the following comic a long time ago… The cover shows the talent of Frank Frazetta and his mastery of anatomy.

So, this is my subject and I hope you will like it: « Find a cover with at least a character with a nice backview, the character being not necessarily all naked and completely “frontal” like Mr. Frazetta did. It just has to show the talent of the artist and his/her knowledge of anatomy. »

    I add the usual rules:

    1) Post One (& ONLY ONE) Cover that fits the theme of this Week's Contest!
    2) Cover must be from a Published Comic Book, Graphic Novel, or Collected Volume!
    3) Covers must be Posted before Voting Begins!
    4) Voting Begins 12 AM Tuesday PST and Runs Until 12 AM Wednesday PST (3 AM EST)!
    5) Vote by Posting the name in BOLD of the Poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most! A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to Count-The-Votes!
    6) The Winner of the Contest is the Entry with the MOST Votes after the Voting-Period!
    7) It's Okay to Discuss the Covers but if you Think Someone's Entry Doesn't Fit the Theme or Violates the Rules, you Don't need to Argue it in the thread, Simply Don't Vote for It!
    8) Plus: Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking --Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!
    9) AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or assigned surrogate) and Thus will do the Counting.
    10) HAVE FUN!

I’m sure all your covers will be beautiful and tasteful. Good hunt!

Frazetta was a master of that particular perspective/imagery, if I understand the topic correctly, so I am going to stick with another Frazetta piece even though that is not part of the requirement...

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I'm a bit confused by the title of the contest vs. the stated challenge. Aren't the sternocleidomastoid muscles in the neck visible from the front but not so much from the back? Or is the title just figurative and not directly relevant to the actual theme?

Archie's girls look just as good from the back as they do from the front!

Dave Cockrum's anatomy and perspective is a little bit off so it doesn't meet the high standards of the contest, however it works as an eye catching cover.

A who has photo albums that are 4 feet tall anyway?

When you couldn't get Frazetta back in the day, you got Boris.

You can find a bunch of books I wrote stories for here. The weekly column is here.

LOL! This literally was going to be my other pick, then I changed my mind.
