I think the implication is that Dr. Poison spent the past hundred years since World War 1 perfecting a super toxin that could kill Diana.

Doesn't make Diana and the Amazons' demise any less undignified or pathetic. Mighty, god-like Wonder Woman and a race of great warriors...wiped out without resistance by a lone madwoman with a grudge.

Even though this will likely not get made, we are still going to see the Amazons slaughtered by Steppenwolf and Diana murdered by evil Superman in the Snyder Cut. Not sure why Zack is so determined to depict the horrific death of Wonder Woman and her sisters one way or another on the big screen, but here we are.

So the snyder cut includes WW beat by SM like in the whedon version, and then killed by SM? Thank god that snyder thinks about WW as a God. How much weaker would he portray her if she wasn't? sigh.

I'd have to say between Whedon and Snyder, this makes more grateful for the Jenkins films.

Jenkins had the good sense at least to have it during a war time setting when Diana was still learning about her powers, and notably dropped that in the sequel. A more experienced Diana who has all her powers has no reason to kill non-powered opponents for any other reason than schlock.

She kills people only when it's necessary or in self defense and with the necessary force. She literally put herself on trial for killing Maxwell Lord. She's not the Punisher or Comedian or any discount American action hero who kills people to look cool.
