They SHOULD have made this book for new, more interesting CHIMERA mutants.
This isn't appealing.

If the editors are dumping these ideas on writers to do-they might have an idea of who might want this title or they are testing out an idea-that MIGHT find its way into Hickman's X-Men or after he is done.
Remember Gwenpool's last book was NOT pitched by Leah Williams.
Priest was not expected to do a Black Panther book after Cap America & Falcon-it was suppose to be a Falcon book. Instead he got Black Panther.
New 52 Firestorm was NOT pitched by Gail Simone or Ethan Vansciver.
Vita is a solid writer and X-men fans are easy marks for underdog stuff. I have seen very few books completely negative here. The easiest prediction was when people get in their hands they will like better and I think that will be true.
As for the book itself, The dialogue is a little annoying but they are teens and trying to keep up with slang does feel like that in real life at least to me. The plot and big McGuffin was pretty good I did not see it coming it will be interesting to see how it goes from now on.
The book concept is tough to sell to people who want to read more adventures about their favourite mutant characters, but in a way this is the real book about mutant culture, and what it means for mutants to have culture. One issue in and it already feels like Vita is right at the coalface of fandom and how self-identity is formed; Also, there was a fight.
I am amused that, one the one hand, I kinda want to see some people who are pro-mutant, and 100% of humanity not being sheet-wearing racist haters. Actual *fans* of the X-Men. Human allies. People who argue for mutant rights and equal treatment.
On the other hand, I'm like, 'not sure if this is what I wanted?'
Eh, we'll see.
EDIT: Moved to different thread.
