DC LGBT-related news: Tynion IV leaves DC Comics to join Substack Comics

It might be important bc basically he's the head writer of the Bat-universe, the creator of some POC & LGBT characters (e.g. Clownhunter, Gardener, Ghost-Maker) and an avid TimxKon shipper. Personally, I just hope the next writer will not get rid of the new characters & Tim will have a prominent role in the future of Bat-titles, hopefully as a non-straight character.

Yeah, it was great to have a queer creator basically helm Batman, the most prestigious of DC books. Goes to show that you have to enact the change you want to see and, well, who knows where it'll go from here?

Although I believe DC has a better track record with queer creators than Marvel. I believe Tamaki might be queer, and if not, homegirl loves including queer ladies in her work. We had Orlando for a bit, but now he's independent and with Marvel. Ram V is non-binary. And I believe Stephanie Phillips might be queer, or if she isn't, has had quite a bit of work with queer characters/themes. Gail Simone was a good ally, but who knows where she's at now. Grant Morrison is also non-binary, but he's mostly stepped away from writing mainstream superhero comics, for the time being.

There's Phil Jimenez on WW Historia and KSD is a good ally. Yeah, I'm blanking on any other writers or artists under the Rainbow mafia umbrella haha.

Who has read today's Batman Urban Legends issue?
I won't spoil it but some of us will be VERY happy!

The next logical step is for Tim, Kon and Cassie to become a happy, polyamorous family.

I'm posting it here bc maybe someone does not have the opportunity to read Batman Urban Legends issue #6:

    https://bleedingcool.com/comics/tim-...gbtq-december/

So what do you think? Bisexual, bi-curious, or gay?

Personally, I don't mind any option but hope DC would treat Tim's sexuality with respect (e.g., if he is bisexual/bi-curious there will be no bi-erasure).
Also, I hope Tim's selling point won't be solely his queerness (although this should be treated as an integral part of his character) & DC is planning to give him great, meaningful stories focusing on his detective skills, tech abilities, good nature, & his self-discovery.

Finally, I just want to say that it's damn time for Tim X Kon!!!

It really doesn't sound natural to me. I feel like DC just don't know what to do with the character anymore, so they did this. I'm glad fans are happy but i wish it wasn't forced.

    It feels forced to you.

He and Steph break up and he goes to meet an old friend and at the end, after the superhero shenanigans, the gay boy asks the "straight boy" if he wants to go on a date and he says yes. How is that forced lol? That **** happens all the time in the real world. Bisexuality exists lol. People can be curious and explore.

What would be the "natural" way to get a fictional character to explore his sexuality?

I'm thinking Bisexual but starting out with curiosity is fine. The boy is like, what, 18? 17? And he's only really been with Steph. It seems totally natural that a boy his age would want to explore. The labels shouldn't matter yet since he's still figuring out his identity.

Exactly! Just give him proper stories DC!!! Handle him well! Don't let him be a background character popping up once in a blue moon when DC feels the urge to demonstrate they have male queer representation.

BTW, Tim's story both thematically & visually reminds me of shōjo & shounen-ai mangas/manwhas... The cute appearance of Tim & Bernard, the whole cute but little bit awkward situation between the two boys, the focus on self-discovery & self-reflection...
I just love this story for many reasons. Not just bc Tim is queer. I don't care about labels.

Haha, I def got a BL vibes and the faces are very bishonen. Which made it all the more adorable. That last panel of Tim blushing was just so adorable. Get it, King!

Maybe it's forced & maybe DC just don't know what to do with Tim. But for many ppl this 'Timothy Drake, the 3rd Robin is queer' means the whole world.

It was never ever hinted. It was just a silly headcanon that fans pushed on the character for years. And now he's just magically bisexual.
