Kind of curious how Mad Pierrot works. He's definetly a character that was very extremely animated (By I think some of the BTAS crew).

Also might be the reason for no Ed.

Did I read somewhere this will be a bit of a prequel in sense or am I imagining things?

I think they said something about "expanding the canon" but the opening seems to strongly imply they're doing adaptations of at least a few episodes.

Regarding Mad his backstory is covered extensively in the actual episode so there's no need for any prequel.

Bebop without Ed, Birds of Prey without Oracle, live-action adaptations are rough if you're a fan of computer-savvy carrot-tops XD

To be fair though, Ed doesn't really appear until around episode 9 in the anime and also is written out of the show before the two part finale. She also really only gets around 4 spotlight episodes-Jamming with Edward, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mushroom Samba and Hard Luck Woman (and the last one is kind of shared more with Faye).

Ed is still an essential part of the crew once she joined. Her not being in is a mark against the show.

Ed was always one of my favorite parts of every episode she was in. She was just such a fun and marvelous goofy character.

Official teaser trailer, actually quite clever.

It's almost too clever for its own good, imo. There are moments when it feels to me like they're literally acting out scenes or exchanges from the show, but the tone in live-action then becomes kinda cartoony. And compared to other anime, it wasn't a "cartoony" cartoon despite having a lot of the goofier anime tropes and slapstick. I know it's just a teaser, but maybe they'll have one that captures the more solemn space-noir western feel that counter-balanced the sillier moments. That's just my gut reaction. (it reminds me of the "Speed Racer" movie in not the best way)

The fighting looks pretty good though, and I think Cho works as Spike.

    Thank You!

It almost seems condescending. I feel like I'm being mocked right to my face & that is 100% their intent.

Y'know those moments in life when you can see the train wreck coming from miles & miles away? This is that.

Yea this trailer is awful..and looks super cheap…they didn’t need all the sin city antics and comic panels when the reference is an anime…how do these people get this stuff green lighted?

It looked ok-ish, but it's not going to as good the anime. Thing is, a lot of what made the anime great ( not just the writing, but the design, the flow of the animation, the atmosphere, the mix of film and animation genres and cultures...) simply can't be re-created in live action ( at least not easily ).

The panel stuff wouldn't be out of place in say, a Studio trigger adaptation (Kill La Kill did that kind of thing all the time), but CB mostly stayed away from those kind of things. I don't think CB ever had, say speed lines (Unless you count the gateway stuff, but that was mostly just the FTL star streaks kind of thing). The most exaggerated movement/facial expressions the show ever used I think was stuff dealing with Ed and Pierrot.

Darn talk about over reading for one single short trailer.
