^^ While I think the actress made a mistake to reply the way she did, let's not forget how much some "passionate" fans these days also act like giant assholes at the drop of a hat to express their desire to torpedo projects they dislike before they're even released. And while it's easy to think of "Hollywood" as some monolithic entity, these are still people, which the trolls tend to overlook in their "passionate" tirades.

But those "passionate" fans are who are needed to make a project like this successful. These studios don't get to chose their fans.

They may try to placate the vocal trolls sometimes, but they love deluding themselves into thinking the studio answers to them and love to trumpet the failure of anything they dislike as though their reasons for disliking something are only reasons it failed.

Studios may want new fans, but using an existing franchise implies they also plan to attract old fans (an entitled fans arepart of this too).

Everyone money is green at the end of the day. Studios may not like those fans but turning them away is terrible business. Unless they can recoup the lost of zealots with new fans it is never a good idea to **** on the base no matter how unreasonable.
