Issue #2. Continues to be interesting, if not ground breaking. Mostly hangs on the strength of Franks' art.
Now did I miss something? At the end of issue #1 the Boy King says he is going after Geiger, and then in issue #2 he is scarred from the encounter. But we never saw that encounter. Johns just left a big whole in the story. Perhaps we will revisit that. But it was a weird jump in time.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Glad I wasn't the only one wondering what was going on with the king in this issue. I agree the time jump seems weird, saw very little of the title character this issue. If there are going to be other titles under the Geiger universe, I guess you need to build them in the main title, but this did seem a bit disjointed.

After reading the second issue, I have to wonder if they realize just how badly constructed the whole issue was?

5 issues in, with just one issue left in the first arc, how does everyone feel this is going. Issue #5 was the best to date. Looking forward to see how they are going to wrap this up and set up the next chapter.

You do, but it's in issue #3.

What did everyone think of the Finale to volume 1 of Geiger? I thought it was the best issue of the series, although there were still some plot holes left open. So it seems Geiger may still be alive? Not sure outside of Junkyard Joe which of the other books under the "Geiger Universe" I may read, although I am curious how they all tie in together.

I liked it. I think the art was the strongest element. I am not sure about this whole Unnamed stuff, would rather stay in the Geiger timeframe. But I am willing to keep reading and give John's the benefit.

I think when Johns isn't focused on character, story, and plot that is where he works best, but when he gets into continuity, excessive world building, and so on that is where he loses me.

More me personally it was Gary Frank's artwork was the real selling point that what made me buy Geiger (and Doomsday Clock to be perfectly honest) and NOT Geoff Johns' writing.

I loved this book, Frank's art is always so nice to look at and I love John's work as well. I know there is a one-shot coming out from Johns Hitch next set in this universe, does anybody know of any future plans after that?

The 80 page Geiger special comes out in November and will have previews of the next 2 titles - Junkyard Joe and Red Coat. Both 6 issue mini series. Redcoat comes out in January I believe. Bryan Hitch released a sketch for Redcoat and it looked good.

Anyone pick up / read the 80-page special? I have read the Red Coat and Barney stories so far along with the Junkyard Joe teaser. The other stories look to be about the various casinos in Vegas.

Not read the 80 page special but I struggled with the main series. A great premise with very poor pacing. It jumped all over the place when it really didn’t need to.

The Casino stories are pretty much hit and miss. The last one has a kind of interesting "twist" if you will at the end, which I would think will play a part if there is a Geiger volume 2. Junkyard Joe is a summer 2022 title, along with Redcoat.
