Yep. I know it's not a big deal for most western audiences but for lots of non-japanese asian countries it's the equivalent of the swastika. More so for the older generation but even younger gens recognize it. Lots of asian celebrities get into scandals if they get caught using it, even if accidently or ignorantly.

I agree that more should be done with Shiro and Karma, like is her younger siblings even on the island? Have their mutant powers manifested yet? Has Shiro and his sister actually been in the same book? Has Yeyu even been resurrected?
What about Karma's multi-billon company? Shouldn't she also working with Warren and Monet with X-Corp?

So far, the X-office has done a poor job of showing the reconnection of families members, especially for those who are active members on ongoing titles.

And looking at the list, some of these artist should be encouraged to put establish mutants in the background instead random unnamed mutants. At least we would know if they're on Krakoa.

Well, the Summers family seems to get a lot of attention, but they're about as whitebread as it gets

LIST ORIGINALLY POSTED BY: Spinster Sinister

    Jubilee* - Chinese
Psylocke* - At this point she's been heavily indicated as Japanese
    Wiz Kid* - Japanese
    Armor* - Japanese
    Karma* - Vietnamese
    Daken* - Japanese
    Shinobi Shaw* - Japanese

Dust (recurring in Champions) - Afghani
    Indra - Indian
    Neal Shaara - Indian
    Trinary - Indian
Silver Samurai (small recurring role in Cable) - Japanese
    Sunfire - Japanese
Gorgon (had a pretty large role in X of Swords) - Japanese
    Sway (semi-recurring role in X-Men) - Chinese
    Silhouette - Cambodian
    Midnight’s Fire - Cambodian
    Zorn - Chinese
    Xorn - Chinese
    Hijack - ???
    Surge - Japanese
    Kenji - Japanese
    Sunpyre - Japanese
    Norio - Madripoor
    Hindsight - ???
    Whisper Doll - Madripoor
    Hexadecimal - Madripoor
    Gazing Nightshade - Madripoor
    Wicked - ???
    Sprite - Chinese
    Nature Girl - ???
    Mondo* - Samoan
    Rolling Thunder - Vietnamese

    Prominent Non-Mutants
    Dr. Kavita Rao - Indian
    Karima Shapandar - Indian
    Red Lotus - ???
    Yukio - Japanese
    Lady Deathstrike - Japanese
    Mariko - Japanese
    Nga & Leong - Vietnamese

Just because someone was asking for it - I went ahead and added where they or their family is from. Some I wasn't sure of because it may have not been mentioned in books I've read. Hijack, Hindsight and Wicked are tricky. I couldn't tell based on name. However Nature Girl I would say probably Chinese based on her name. Not sure why I always assumed Hindsight was Korean or half Korean...

With all of that said I would say that Jubilee, Psylocke/Kwannon, Karma and Armor our the most prominent Asian mutants in comics right now.

Quick question: The majority of these characters are actually nationally Asian, right? If I recall only Jubilee is Asian-American

Well dc has asian superman, batman and wonder woman.

There was another dc asian superman years ago.
There is indian superman movie from india by the way from 1980's.

Of course asians are represented in comics and there is good amount of asians represented in u.s. comics.
Since dc and marvel are u.s. made comics i would say asians are not underepresentated if you compare real life u.s. population size and not real worldwide population size.

By the way here some talk about indian superheroes at marvel and real life u.s. population size vs popuation in india etc..
    # It's strange to me that the Marvel Universe has no superheros of Indian origin.

I am not anti-black. I just mentioned that asian characteres who are majority pf the world populations are less in X books.(krakoans are now representing the whole populations of mutants.
Also when they mentioned Asians mostly Japanesse is in X books. India and China alone composed of 67% of total Asian populations.
I think it is only Jubilee , and xorn (i am confuse with him as magneto) are Chinese.
Being the majority doesn't mean much of anything, i mean black ppl are the second majority in this world and if you go by the comics, they barely exist as leads. But at the time, the X-men are based in America, which doesn't have a large population of Asians.

    Still I get you.
