The first issue of the Marvel Action: Spider-Man 2021 came out today. Not much to say except that it's just an introduction and that Mysterio doesn't appear even though he's on the cover.

Instead of Midtown High, Peter goes to a school called Ocsot aka Oscorp Charter School of Technology. Apparently, Aunt May saw an AD for the school while playing a farming game on her phone. If people were put off by Gwen and Miles in the previous series, well Cindy Moon is a classmate of Peter's in the relaunch, but she doesn't have any powers (yet). Carlie Cooper is also a classmate, and a girl named Sammie looks very, very similar to Screwball. Flash Thompson has burgundy hair and isn't blonde. I'm guessing Carlie is the girlfriend mentioned in the solicits for the issue? Peter mentions that she's cute looking, but he's still a new student as Ocsot so they're not dating. Here's the funny thing: This is basically Peter going to Osborn Academy from the 2017 show. His enemies are the faculty of this Oscorp Charter School. Otto is the principal, and Peter meets him in a similar way that meets in the 2017 cartoon, the school looks similar to Horizon High, and Mac Gargan is the GYM teacher. At the end of the issue Peter finds out that Coach Gargan is up to something.

Why is IDW publishing Marvel's kids' line?

Apparently, Disney was the one who approached IDW about the kid's line and not Marvel. This article implies that Disney wants to use IDW to target middle school-age readers and for Marvel to focus on the teenage and adult audience. They mention how IDW was already publishing Star Wars comics for kids while Marvel is the main publisher of the Star Wars brand as an example.
