Default William Shatner says he's never watched a Star Trek episode

He says 'it's all painful' to watch himself in the role. He says the only Star Trek film he's watched was V because he directed it. I love it.

If I'd never seen anything but Star Trek V I'd never have watched any more of it either.

It's very common for actors to hate watching themselves act.

He does not need to watch them. He lived it by starring in them.

BS, a dude with an ego big enough to make the earth stop rotating wouldn't love to watch himself?

    I'm not buying it.

A lot of actors, even the ones with "big egos" don't like to watch themselves.

Many actors don't watch themselves, it's not a big surprise.

However William has this narcissistic persona and this is only going to fuel things more.

I remember a funny story that Patrick Stewert told on one of the late night shows. he never watched TNG. he said he avoided it. But one night after dont a whole day of promotional stuff for the first Xmen then dinner with friends and such he didnt get back to his hotel until 2 am. He said he put on a robe and he had puffy eyes and was tired and said he looked and felt just awful. So he called the front desk and asked them to send him up some headache medicine. While he was waiting he turned on the tv for back round noise or something. What was on was an old TNG episode. He said the hotel worker knocked on his door and he opened it to get the medicine and the worker looked at the tv and then looked at him and gave him this look of pity.

Patrick closed the door and was like WTF? Then he saw that Star Trek was one and all he thought was this hotel worker seeing this pitiful old man watching himself on tv at 2 in the morning. it gave him a good laugh.

Made me smile when I heard that.

But I am calling Bs on this as well. I am sure if you go into his house he has one room with an 80 inch tv playing Star Trek 24 hours a day, another room devoted to Tj Hooker and a thrid room for Boston Legal.

It's rather common for actors to never watch their own movies or shows except for "the dailies" where, at the end of each day, they watch what was filmed that day as yet not in it's final form. It's a job they already spent all day on. At least he said it was because he didn't like the way he looked and what he did, and probably some of the dialogue he had to say. Considering his ego, that's even more significant that he doesn't like to watch it.
