Is it an April fools joke?
Got it in one:
It's a good joke. This list of appointments though is kind of insane:
President SPIDER-MAN joined by Vice President MONICA RAMBEAU, Chief of Staff NORMAN OSBORN, Press Secretary J. JONAH JAMESON, and Security Director JESSICA JONES. But while the Web-Slinger balances his official duties with fighting crime and maintaining his secret identity, something is rotten in his new administration -- something that can only be uncovered by the newest member of the White House press corps... PETER PARKER.
It's a mix of good, if somehwhat random, choices with bonkers choices. Monica Rambeau as VP is a great choice but she's not someone connected to Spider-Man aside from making her debut in an ASM annual. Jessica Jones is more connected to Peter and makes sense. But Norman Osborn as Chief of Staff, aka the guy who controls who speaks to the President and when, is flat-out insane for all kinds of reasons. It's a job that's too disciplined for Norman and it's also an enormous amount of trust handed to a guy who has time and again murdered people Peter has cared about.
J. Jonah Jameson as Press Secretary is a kind of insane idea I kinda want to see happen.
Same on that last one. Disappointed because I would gladly have Spider-Man as president, although according to Marvel canon, he'd be too young --- in real life, you have to be at least 35 years old to run for the Presidency, let alone win it, and Marvel will insist, even fight to the death over, that Peter is in his mid-20s forever.
The spider is always on the hunt.
