I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
Time to tally the votes!
1 vote each: CaptCleghorn, CaptainEurope, Englehart Humperdinck, nx01a, Speed Force League Unlimited, Stony, WestPhillyPunisher
2 votes each: Ajax_X, ChadH, Conn Seanery, Kai "the spy", Kirby101, MRP, seismic-2
and, in a two way tie with 5 votes....Iron Maiden and Zelena!
Would someone who hasn't voted please swing by and break the deadlock?
And if anyone wants to double check my tally, feel free!
Avatar: Here's to the late, great Steve Dillon. Best. Punisher. Artist. EVER!
Congratulations to Zelena!
Congrats to Zelena! I've sent out the PM.

Thank you, K7P5V, Riv86672 and WestPhillyPunisher… I’m flabbergasted, really… As my cover wasn’t an US one, it didn’t send anyone down memory lane (except me). I wonder if it’s the first time a non-US cover won the contest…
Thanks to all people who voted for me: Stony, Tami, Ajax_X, ChadH, LordMikel and CaptCleghorn… or should I say for a cover made by Yves Thos, who had a long career, not only as an artist for comic covers but also, among others, as a prolific and renowned poster painter for the cinema:
For those who like his style, here is a link to a great deal of works he did:
Yves Thos, 1935 | La Dolce Vita
Next contest in approximatively… 4 hours. (I didn’t think you would remember… LordMikel)
“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
Congratulations Zelena.
And kudos to Rob Allen for what proved to be really interesting theme.
Congrats, Zelena!
Dammit, now I’m gonna have to watch The Treasure of the Sierra Madre today.
Once I get on a Bogart kick, it’s hard for me to stop...
Congratulations to Zelena for truly making this a worldwide contest.
The peak of the week where the captain pontificates about what he's learned in this contest is a special visual edition...
And appreciation goes to my fellow captain CaptainEurope for the vote. Thank you for enabling, errrr, supporting me.
Congrats to Zelana, beautiful painted cover, even though it was more a jacket than a shirt. (joking!)
And Race Bannon thank MRP and Conn for the votes.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
I'm not sure that's really possible since I never took any French classes in school. And one of the few classes I tried to avoid being a substitute teacher in for middle school (back when I use to be a sub) was French class. Hell, I preferred doing things like FACS (which they called "Home Economics" when I was a student), and back then I could barely cook or anything like that.
Thanks to WPP for tallying the votes, and I'm glad people liked the theme!
