Everett Thomas: Synch Appreciation 2021

Synch was a refreshing character back in the day. In a time when I was younger and didn’t understand some of the…complexities, I still understood that his introduction was a great take.

I hope this is Synch’s time to shine.

Not talking about his bald head, either.

So, which artistic version of Synch’s aura do you like best?

For reference:

1. I call this the “classic” that, I believe, Bachalo introduced (actually, I think Bachalo “invented” all of these).

I think I like number 2 best. Of course, other artists have had their own spins, but these three are the ones I remember most.

Number 1 was always my favorite but I think #2 always looked the coolest.

Definitely agree. The one thing I don't think the media and people outside the culture realize is that the same "thugs" that were out in the streets doing wrong wouldn't even let us do dirt even if we wanted to. I can't tell you the number of times I was told "go home school boy, this ain't for you" I didn't understand it when I was young but they saw my potential and wasn't going to let me mess up.

And yeah brother we definitely need to see Ev and Miles link up.

Funny thing is whenever I think of Synch's aura those 3 images are the exact one's I picture.

Number 2 is my favorite. The only thing Larraz and Gracia don't do well is depict the aura. Larraz minimizes it. I like how it was done back in the GenX days.

I gotta say it's so refreshing to all the love and excitement for Synch this week. I can't put into words how much pride I feel seeing my favorite X-Man( and it feels so damn good to finally be able to call him that!) shine. We've hoped for this for so long and it's finally here. There's no limit for Ev's potential and to see that start to be realized is a dream come true.

The main reason I go so hard when it comes to Ev is he was the first comic character that truly spoke to me. I saw myself in Synch moreso than I could with T'Challa(whom I also love). I grew up as the straight A student that happened to live in the projects and from Synch's very first appearance I found a character I could truly identify with as a young black man.

Hoping to see more amazing moments for Synch and hell I hope this appreciation thread get a lot more traffic like the man deserves.

Although they've been around for ages and I appreciated their presence in comics, I never really took to Black Panther, Power Man (Luke Cage), Brother Voodoo, or Falcon. Even Adam Brashear doesn't quite strike the same. Everett was/is the perfect note. I really hope Marvel doesn't disappoint.

Bruh, Marvel needs to come see you about that concept design for Everett. It slaps fam. This is such a different and visually interesting variation on the manifestation of the aura.
