Default Should Chip Zdarsky write Amazing Spider-Man?

Chip has made most of my favorite stories of Spider-Man in the last few years, his run in Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man and his Spider-Man: Life Story.

He also brought Teresa Parker back and even made it clear that she is indeed Peter's sister, and had Peter reveal his identity to Jonah and gave him character development.

And in his current Daredevil run, Spider-Man has appeared many times and gave us a lot of great moments, like showing the relationship of Spider-Man and Daredevil and the moment of Peter with the detective Cole North.

At this point I feel he should be given the main title of Spider-Man, he has proven that he understands Peter, what do you think?

Absolutely agree,He needs a run at ASM.He is also writing the new Spider's Shadow what if mini.
Would love for him to come to ASM after Spencer is done.
Also what do you think about the return of Romita.I think he may be back at ASM since that is what he is famous for and ASM doesn't have a consistent art team.I hope they don't waste him on the Carnage Alpha stuff

He did a great job on ‘Life Story’, but his Spec run was inconsistent with some gems and some duds. But sure, I’d be okay with him taking over.

If it's the Chip from Lifestory...definitely, if it's the one from Spectacular...no, his Peter sounded way too much like the class clown bumbling himself from crises to crises.

If Marvel decides Zdarsky should write ASM after Spencer, I would read it certainly.

At the same time it's not a given or guarantee that the fans who liked Life Story or Spectacular would find the same kind of stories or concepts in a solo ASM run.

Life Story allowed Zdarsky no restrictions, which would not be the case on ASM.

Zdarsky said numerous times that the reason he loves writing Daredevil so much is that the title has prestige but it's also one that doesn't cross over very often, nor is affected very often, by general Marvel Universe stuff like events and so on. I don't think someone like that would want a title where he has to do so much heavy lifting with Marvel brass nor would he find that creatively freeing as opposed to doing Spider-Man minis like the upcoming Spider Shadow thing.

I did not like Life Story much. I did however enjoy most of Chip’s Spectacular run. It’s great how we all have these different tastes. Should he be given ASM? I dunno. Will he do well? Quite possibly. I’ll let Marvel make a great decision or one they’ll be heavily criticized on.

I have no problem with this.

He has a good sense of the character's voice, and has put Spider-Man in some tough situations. His Daredevil run shows that he can handle a lead book.

I think he had some struggles with pacing in Spectacular Spider-Man, but he got past that.
    Sincerely,

If like that. Finale from Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #310 is his bed story followed by My Dinner With Jonah (PP: TSSM #310) and Amazing Fantasy also in PP: TSSM.

I've said it before but I think Zdarsky has just about said everything he wants to say on Spider-Man at this point.

I think he is just happy doing minis for the time being, but I wouldn't object to him doing Amazing. In fact, Zdarksy is probably my favourite Spider-man writer since maybe JMS. I may even go as far as to say he is better than JMS.
Spectacular, once it got it's footing, became an incredibly fun story. I'd be happy to see him jump onto Amazing.

I've not read Life Story yet, but I've ordered it the other day so once it arrives, I'll be able to read it. I've heard great things about it through.
Plus I have his new mini in my subscriptions, so I do look forward to reading through that when it comes out.

As long Zdarksy wants to, I would love to see him on The Amazing Spider-Man. He's arguably been the best Spider-Man writer of the post-OMD era, and I don't mean just by default. His run on Spider-Man is genuinely good, and I love his characterization of Spidey both in The Spectacular Spider-Man and in his Daredevil run.

It also feels like Zdarsky in a way never fully got the same creative freedom as JMS and Slott. Life Story was too crunched and is more a story about the entire Marvel Universe, while The Spectacular Spider-Man was supposed to be a Howard The Duck-esque book and less serious than Amazing (which is why it doesn't get as serious until towards the end of the run, when Zdarksy was given more free reign). So as long as he wants to and feels he's still got more Spider-Man in him, he would have my vote as the next writer after Spencer.

Honestly, sure. However, I'd prefer he be the next writer on Fantastic Four. It would be nice to love an FF book again.
