That image I posted is the first time we see Kaine with the Spider-Man costume, a foreshadowing that he is a clone of Peter Parker
I recall, yeah. Mysterio during the Clone Saga . . . was it right after Ben Reilly's debut as the Sensational Spider-Man?

No, he was still Scarlet Spider.

Ah, was this during the two months Scarlet Spider took over and renamed the Spider-Man titles before Sensational Spider-Man?

I think this was from the Trial of Peter Parker. I'll recheck at some point.

Wait is this the original design by Jack Kirby, not a fan interpretation, though the original was lost.

Yeah, remember seeing this promotion, forgot about it, wish they had used it.

Here, you can see Steve Ditko's recreation of Jack Kirby's original design:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/...ign_according/

This design had a cameo in the Web Warriors comic as the Spider-Man of Earth-91142 (he is featured at the bottom of the profile):

One thing to note is that the Steve Ditko recreation doesn't show the colors of the Kirby design, assuming the original design ever received colors. The Web Warriors colorist probably just used their imagination.

Was that design ever turned into a toy? I think I saw a toy of it on the internet.

Seems basically what he designed for Ant-Man/Giant Man minus the helmet and antennae.

That was a good one, though the ending was . . . something else.

They even ended up using the design on a toy.
    I like it.
