Default DC Next Dawn - April Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, APRIL 2021!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    AQUAMAN #6
    Plot by EXCITER & H-E-D
    Written by GEOFF JOHNS
    Art by JIM LEE
The start of an ambitious crossover millennia in the making!
“AMAZONIA-ATLANTIS: WEIGHT OF THE WAVES” part one “BEFORE THE DELUGE”
    Millennia Ago.
It was a day of legendary celebration, for two mortal nations had united to quell the wrath of mad gods. Triton, god of the depths, had forsaken his father Poseidon and warred upon his faithful. He found a bloody ally in the most zealous of Ares’ divine offspring: Enyo, goddess of bloodlust! Only by fighting together could the heroes of Atlantis and Amazonia prevail - and prevail they did. Now, gathering in victory, the King of Atlantis formally announces the establishment of Aurania and Venturia! In the great tradition of Amazons guarding the prisons of fallen gods, these two Amazonian outposts within Atlantean borders would allow the two powers to collectively ensure that Triton and Enyo never threaten the world again!
Yet only the small fellowship of heroes who personally fought the mad gods truly know the threat they represented - and the dark sacrifice involved in ending it. One among that fellowship, the unparalleled sorcerer Arion of Atlantis, hopes that dark knowledge remains locked away for eternity alongside Triton and Enyo...
    Today.
Word reaches King Orm in Atlantis’ capital, Poseidonis. A delegation of Amazons have arrived in Xebel. The warrior women claim authority over two swaths of resource-rich territory within modern Xebellian borders. They call these areas Aurania and Venturia. Yet, these designations are unfamiliar to Orm, who refuses to recognize the claim. Xebel is one of the few Atlantean states still loyal to the crown, and he will not betray them or show weakness by allowing a foreign occupation. No, the Amazons must go... and Orm knows just the Xebellian to expel them from her homeland: the water witch, Mera!
Meanwhile, Arthur Curry receives a cryptic message from a familiar name. But how does he know Kahina of Cenculiana, the Amazonian Realm hidden within Tunisia, and what does she want with the Aquaman?

    THE LADY IS A BAT?
David is stunned by the allegations made by Steve Trevor that his partner Kia Okura is Bat-Wing! How could Kia be Bat-Wing? The vigilante by all appearances looks to be a tall male with a slim athletic build. Steve believes that Kia is using padding and prosthetics to make herself appear as a male, not only to fool the criminals but the police as well. David needs to figure out a way to get Trevor off the trail of Bat-Wing before he discovers that it isn't Kia in the costume but him!
Elsewhere, Kia and Dawn have broken up another gun smuggling ring in the outskirts of Tinisha. They've been very successful over the past few weeks but they've also put a target on themselves. Lena Killian has left Cadmus to form her own company. But it's a shell corporation used to bring guns into the Congo with the help of her new partner Tasha as Ghul. U.S. Director of Homeland Security “John Jones” has been exposed as a Martian. Although he did his best to protect the nation and world, Savage’s mouthpieces in the American government and media are painting his actions as a dangerous infiltration, evidence of interplanetary espionage, and the need to implement more stringent security measures. Meanwhile, narrowly escaping capture, the Martian Manhunter has become a Martian man hunted! Perhaps he can find a place to hide... in Central City.
Cheetah, along with the Light’s African contingent, have subjugated Gorilla City. Solovar and a few survivors, including a badly injured Grodd, have escaped. Can they find sanctuary... in Central City?

    GREEN LANTERN #21
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
“BATTERY ASSAULT” part three “GO GREEN OR GO HOME”
Everything has been building to this! Either the Central Battery gets restored, or the Green Lantern Corps dies trying!
The Guardians of the Universe have been convinced: they will channel all their considerable power into Oa’s new Central Battery in order to effectively “jumpstart” it. Rings will finally be rechargeable. The Corps can finally return!
The only hitch is that this will take time... and while the Guardians channel their energy, all of Oa will be vulnerable. They’ll need to be protected until the process is complete. It’s a good thing that Hal, John, Guy, and the rest didn’t make numerous powerful enemies on their mission to restore the Battery. Oh wait, they did!
Despero had seized control of his planet, Kalanor. He ruled as a governmental and religious leader... until the meddlesome Lanterns intervened and led an uprising to depose him (see GREEN LANTERN #17-18). Now he leads his remaining loyalists to Oa with one goal... revenge!
Guy Gardner became the leader of the Red Lantern Corps before being ousted for failure. Then he helped his old friends steal the Red Lantern Central Battery (see GREEN LANTERN #19). The Reds were already full of rage... now they’re completely incensed and heading right for Oa in a last gasp of fury before their rings burn out!
And oh yeah, remember when Doomsday was unleashed to fight in the Starro Wars? (see STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #3). Well... he’s back!
And the Green Lantern Corps rings are all at 0%. Is there enough willpower in the entire universe to overcome these odds?

Clark believes letting them live is the only way forward.
This, however, gives time for Lex Luthor to activate the army of Metallo.
They were all designed to be able to transform into weapons and phase through the wall, each unit was constructed by millions of Nano-Metallo, all powered by Kryptonite Radiation.
Superman and Zod were both wounded, but they will finish the mission.

    OUTSIDERS #18
    Plotted by randomideaguy
    Written by JIMMY PALMIOTTI
    Art by AMANDA CONNER
It's time for the Outsiders to get the hell out of dodge (or California in this case). Oliver Queen splurges to get the team bus a spot on a container ship heading out from Los Angeles to Alaska.
It seems like a decent chance for a vacation, some light reading. Black Lighting & Huntress take up in the small library and do just that.
Katana and Black Canary spend the time off constantly training and meditating on the top deck of the ship.
Last is Oliver Queen, who can't help himself from investigating the ship while doing some hard labor with the fishermen and sailors on board.
Turns out the ship may be a mission after all - as it seems to be the center of many recent disappearances. But who would do such a thing?

    THE QUESTION #21
    Writer MARK RUSSELL
    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ

Vic and Lee Travis go in locked and loaded for a fight thousands of miles above Earth’s surface. Valentina Vostok remains aboard the stolen shuttle keeping it ready for an expected quick getaway while Merry Pemberton, Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks, sets an unofficial world record for the youngest person to ever spacewalk as she plants some of her gimmick devices on the outside of the nefarious satellite’s.
Myra Fermin is now positive her husband is a doppleganger as Wesley’s made appearances on Colbert and Bill Maher completely sober. Her problem now is, since Wesley was a total scumbag, is this a good development, or something even worse?

    RED X: SEASON TWO #6
    Written by Marjorie Liu
    Plot by H-E-D
    Art by Declan Shalvey
When the new Red X was just an art thief, Dick Grayson could tolerate his former mantle being appropriated.
But now, the new Red X has partaken in Dick’s greatest sin from his time under the mask.
Murder. Dick still remembers how it felt. Guitez’s blood on his hands. The snapping of bones. The life leaving their eyes. The way he felt it, knew what was happening, but couldn’t stop it. Not couldn’t. He didn’t stop it.
He should’ve stopped it. First Guitez, and now Daizo. He has to stop the next one. He must.
Dick is done sitting on his hands. He’s going to take down the copycat – if only to prove to himself that he isn’t Red X anymore.
His grit and determination will only get him so far, though. He’s been out of the hero game for some time. He needs help, somebody that knows the players in the city’s underworld. And who better than the heroine that took up his [i]other[ /i] mantle? The hero that’s been keeping Blüdhaven’s people safe.

WEIGHT OF THE WAVES Part 2 – “DARK TIDINGS”
Still reeling from their Civil War, Amazonia is in desperate need of resources for Reconstruction. They called upon the Territories, their outer realms, and many have answered the call, and gladly. Traveling by starlight, the Celestial Wonder Woman works ceaselessly alongside her sisters to heal the scars of war.
But not all Territories have been so forthcoming. Beneath the waves of the seven seas, the delegations to Aurania and Venturia have been met with apprehension. Amazonia is their distant past, a footnote in their history. Few even in Xebel know the true names of the cities – to say nothing of those in the royal palace.
Duchess Eeras of Aurania's hopes for an uneventful departure of the Amazons were dashed when the cruel and ambitious Duchess Clea of Venturia sent word to King Orm in Poseidonis. Meanwhile, one of Diana’s Wonder Women, the enigmatic seer Kahina, reached out to an old ally: Aquaman! Diana fought at his side in the recent STARRO WARS, but Kahina served with him for years in the nigh-forgotten OTHERS. But this is no mere reunion — Kahina seeks to avert a plot to free evil gods. But are they too late?
As tensions escalate, Diana blinks to Aurania. (Don’t worry, Amazon technology lets her breath underwater! Think Purple Healing Ray.) And not a moment too soon, as Mera and her Xebellian forces arrive to forcibly expel the Amazons! Outnumbered and outmatched by the amphibious Xebellians, Diana barely manages to get the Amazons out alive! Unfortunately, she buys them time by surrendering: Wonder Woman is Mera’s prisoner!
Outraged by the violence against their diplomats and the detention of their paragon, the United Realms of Amazonia send forces to Aurania, demanding restitution!

    Plotted by randomideaguy
    Written by FELICIA HENDERSON
    Art by FIONA STAPLES
The Titans reunite on a boat in the Pacific Ocean, defeating August General in Iron and locking him up. The plan is to drag him back to the United States so they can deliver him to United Nations authorities. But the General says that plan won't take the group very far.
If there's one thing heroes love being told, it's that their efforts are utterly futile. Why would the UN sanction August General's actions? Unless he had a man on the inside.
This investigation takes us to Silicon Valley for the second time in a few months, as the Teen Titans tracks the enigmatic backer of the August General in Iron - the evil telepath Maxwell Lord! Max was hoping that building up non-American super teams would give him an excuse to make his own UN team. But the Titans foiled his plans! Them and their stupid dog! (Wait, wrong property...)
All Titans are on deck as the group goes up against Maxwell Lord and the August General In Iron!

I too support a dog joining the team. I vote Doctor Canus or Hot Dog.

Another month has passed in the dynamic Next Dawn manner, the smoke has cleared from the field of competition, and it is time once again to tally the sales based on YOUR purchases!

As every month, before we get into the units moved, CBR’s DC Next Dawn's editorial staff wishes to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our fan-made solicitation project. Whether you plotted a book, let us know which titles were on your pull list, or just took some of your valuable time to check us out – thank you! This game wouldn’t be anything without you, so if you had fun, tell a friend! The more buys, the better! And best of all, it doesn’t actually cost you anything!

Also, don’t forget to get in on the conversation and all the latest news at the Next Dawn Bullpen!

Now, without further ado, CBR’s DC Next Dawn monthly sales tally and voting results for APRIL 2021!

    TOTAL SALES: 78.
TOP SELLING TITLE: 13-way tie! Everything sold 6 copies.

    BREAKDOWN:

    AQUAMAN #6 - 6
    BAT-WING #21 - 6
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #21 - 6
    DETECTIVE COMICS #14 - 6
    THE FLASH #21 - 6
    GREEN LANTERN #21 - 6
    HOUSE OF S #2 - 6
    JUSTICE FOR ALL SEASONS #5 - 6
    OUTSIDERS #18 - 6
    THE QUESTION #21 - 6
    RED X: SEASON TWO #6 - 6
    SENSATION COMICS #19 - 6
    TEEN TITANS #11 - 6

Of course, the sales figures are hand tallied and subject to human error. If I have miscalculated any sales be assured that it was not intentional and, if brought to my attention, will be corrected ASAP.

We hope to see you all again next month! Sales victory will be rewarded handsomely! I will be updating reward points shortly.
