Yeah some of the X-Men writers seem to have forgotten that some of them actually, you know, have longstanding non mutant friends. Thankfully the Champions book didn't forget it
First of I will like state that this being contrived is a matter of perspective. Like jwatson said sometimes you just have to say f them. Scott said it best how long? How long were they supposed to take it, to be at the mercy of their enemies, they hadn't even made their nation and a whole space laboratory was made dedicated to destroying them. I see it like this the time for sitting and doodling is over and done with, the avengers were their allies but did the avengers go out if their way to actually help the x-men and mutant kind as a whole. Or they just made speeches and random team ups to fight bad guys. Moira lived a series of lives she has seen xavier's dream it doesn't work, she has seen Apocalypse's dream she lived it it didn't work, soo many more it didn't work. Now this is implied to be the last chance she has. If it doesn't work they as a race is done for.
I am sorry it puts y'all in the feels that the x-men and the avengers can't be lovey dovey again or the fantastic four are no longer friends with them, or that storm is willing to burn all her bridges including with tachala to do what is needed for krakoa. But right now this is their last chance. They mess it up it's over. So no it is not contrived they are literally having an existential time clock ticking over their heads maybe not all mutants but the leaders at least know to some extent what is going on and that this is their only opportunity to make it or go extinct. As seen with Emma and her moira statue. That is why the first hick man books one reads No more!
Because it may not be overtly obvious but they as a race are desperate. And as such don't have time for foolishness. Even magneto even stated how dumb and pointless the xof swords event was even though it brought them arrako a potential new enemy to deal with.

It honestly feels like a cheap attempt at scoring brownie points with the x-readers by making them needlessly hostile towards anyone who isn’t mutant. Heck half the time, it feels like there’s a quota they have to meet with a mutant talking trash about something human. Sadly, based on comments in these threads, this is what people want the X-Men to be.
ALL HAIL THE HADARI YAO, THE OMEGA'S OMEGA, BEYOND OMEGA, THE VOICE OF SOL!!!! NOW AGAIN THE ONE TRUE AND ONLY GODDESS OF THE X-MEN AS CLAREMONT INTENDED!!!!!
Issue one was decent. I am definitely intrigued, as long as these names and costumes are just sort of a gag and the characters eventually become their own identity.
The whole "mutants should be nicer to humans" mantra sounds to me like "that woman wouldn't have been called a bitch if she had just smiled".
It's like a minority can only be respected as long as they suck up to their oppressors in bad and good times.
Well they certainly aren't friends. Friends don't let friend get killed by clouds. Friends don't let friends be hunted by sentinels. Why do all of these things in a supposed shared universe only seem to need to be addressed in the xbooks. Is there a reason why they don't use valuable space in their books to address the view of said heros on issues in a "shared universe". It seems like the X-side be on top of it when it comes to responding to things that are happening in avenger books that effect them.

But how hard would it be to take a panel or two in Captain America book to show how he felt about the terrigen cloud. Or how about Thor. Can anyone provide a page of a single response in those books in this supposed shared universe where they did more than just show up for an event. It's not on the readers that even if they read the whole line those things do not exist. You can only assume how Cap and them felt in a shared universe where mutants were being gassed because those writing and editing those books at that time didn't care to show it. I didn't want to be reading about a poisonous cloud or extinction events either but it is what was happening.

The cloud at the time affected the entire line. The terrigen was running through every book and inhumans were guesting left and right in the main line books. I read Inhumans and UNcanny Inhumans and saw the casino that was being ran and them living it up while on the flip side i sat through extraodinary xmen and the other books where the ramifications were actually being dealt with which were the main books so a cloud released in avengers we are dealing with in xmen. So again in a shared universe that's on them. The readers can come now and be all "but they cared" but i would say then they should have been asking where were the books showing their favorite heros responding to what was happening to mutants the same way they are now asking what are the mutants doing to humans. It's in a pocket, it's not affectingCap, thor, etc the same way the cloud wasn't but now that they seem on the up rather than being smothered there seems to be a problem. Oh well.
