In this era of security cameras being "all over the place" in various cities, that would definitely have an affect on Peter's attempts to maintain a secret identity, changing in random alleys and such.

His Spider-Sense originally always warned him whenever somebody was looking, that's why Green Goblin had to disable it with a gas to get a look-see. If writers remember that it shouldn't matter.

I've said this before, but my headcanon is that technology and attitudes changed rather quickly in the Marvel Universe, I see no reason why 2006 marvel wouldn't look like 1960 in real life.
