Does he get assistance from Sonic's friends too? Some of the stuff Sonic faced required being in multiple places (or time-periods, in Solaris' case) simultaneously, even disregarding the tech help of Tails for some of the stuff.

Yes, everything except Sonic's presence is the same. Also Kirby has been able to make his own helpers for a long time.
The only exception is that Tails is not allowed to help him complete anything that does not directly require TailsI am a mighty wizard from magic lands
