Default Did Anybody ever buy UMD movies?

I always thought it was a unique format and a cool way to watch movies on the go.
Did y'all feel the same way about them?

I think that's what they called the discs that the PSP used.

It was the physical format for the PSP.

I never brought any UMD movies because they were horrible value. They cost the same as DVDs at the time but couldn't be packed with the same amount of content.

I remember they were teeny tiny digital discs. The adverts always showed the UMD of Hitch next to the DVD box of Hitch, so I figured Hitch must be the only film you could watch on a PSP. Probably GameCube discs were the same size, but Nintendo never wanted to get on the home video bandwagon.

Gamecube was its own size, sort of between a traditional dvd/cd and the psp discs and yeah I have never understood why Nintendo wasn't down with making their consoles able to play movies. The Wii did have a netflix app, but I don't think the wii U did and switch definitely does not. It's not a deal breaker like it once was as smart tv's are fairly standard now but in the past it was a definite let down.
