Look, I love Spidey no matter what, so even during those years we got some amazing stories (and one of my favorites: Spider Island).

But I'm reading about this Kindred business on cbr forums and it seems to me that the good majority is here for immediate answers to the mysteries... when in my opinion it absolutely, and however cheesy it may sound, IS all about the journey. Do you remember the old days of Roger Stern? I'm a child of the 90s so my first Spidey was definitely Bagley-eyed husband of MJ, but during Stern era I'm sure there were also a lot of letters demanding they reveal Hobgoblin's identity (that weren't included in omni, ahem), and yet it was constantly engaging and refreshing to read all of the steps of the story that built the grander narrative.

I mean, sure, I would like to know how it all goes... But not right now. That would be skipping an engaging book. Right now would mean Spencer is leaving the book, and this run's been one of my favorites, by far (I'm talking on the level of JMS, Stern in my book). All of the side characters were carefully written and engaging in their own way, MJ and Peter are finally together again and last time they felt as good like that was when Fraction wrote them on top of the Empire State or, naturally, JMS before they OMD it all to hell. We've had two incredible artists along the way: Ryan Ottley and Pat Gleason (who will hopefully return for more), along many others and of course Bagley's return.

You'll get all of your answers. Eventually. You'll be able to read it all once it's over and appreciate the story for its entirety and all of its carefully connected elements. But when it's over - it's over. I don't know who comes after Spencer and right now I don't care. If he doesn't royally mess up the finale, whoever comes next will have a helluva difficult task.
We live in a age of instant gratification. Most people just don't have the patience or intention span to deal with long form mysteries in comics. It's weird, because Spencer was been writing the book for close to 3 years. So the wait is nowhere near the one people had to endure when the Hobgoblin one was unfolding.

In saying that, some mysteries do have a lifespan and dragging them out long past their used by date only hampers it in the long run. Look at the Clone Saga 2 where unnecessary twists and turns were added to pad it out.

Generally, I don't mind the slow burn. But I do see, and understand, why some don't.

I really disagree. Why? I cannot speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself. I have been waiting for over a decade for OMD to end, that is not being impatient. In fact, the main ( although certainly NOT the only reason) I quit ASM during Dan Slott’s run was the realization that OMD will never go away until he left the book ( that analysis was proven correct). This 900 pound gorilla on the back of Peter and the readers has been going on too long. I am not only waiting for but expecting this nightmare to finally end ( especially because other stuff like Shed and Otto have been reversed and the reason for OMD ( hint it had a $ in front of it) no longer applies because of the multiple Spider characters like Miles, Gwen and Cindy). I can tell you that IF by some chance it does not then I will not be onboard with the next writer., because I am tired of investing my precious time waiting for closure of OMD.

I don’t want instant gratification. But some more answers would be nice. We can’t blame the pandemic on this story either because since last September, we’ve been getting a lot of Spider-Man books per month and many of them have had a few extra pages. But the problem here is this Kindred story just doesn’t hold water. It’s Harry. Why? We don’t know. A whole 6 or so issues were spent with Harry screaming at the top of his longs for Peter to CONFESS CONFESS CONFESS. And yet here we are with less answers than before. As someone else mentioned, it’s been 3 years and we have nothing. Someone else mentioned the Clone Saga. I can see why people hated it then and still dislike it now. It did drag, and it was made worse by the fact that Spider-Man had 4 monthly titles at the time and half a dozen mini series and one shots each month on top of that. The clone saga only lasted two years but with all those books it felt like forever. The current Spider-Man book is running 2-3 times a month. Lots of extras in between. That’s fine. But it doesn’t seem like there’s any progress in this particular story.

The least you could do is hold onto the Superior Octopus design especially when it was an opportunity to have both versions of the character due to the cloning angle. It also doesn't help that the last arc is insufferably bad and it only resulted in a cameo in Doctor Doom of all places so it wasn't even worth it. And frankly who did it even appeal to aside from those who didn't like the character who aren't even reading the book? An opportunity for everyone to win and the change appeals to a demographic who doesn't even give a ****.

If Otto comes back to be a bad guy it needs to justify the shift. Otherwise your just placating to limp dick status-quo.

I keep saying that this run is just 90's Spider-man all over again. I've yet to be proven wrong.
    Thank you!

I think all this stuff would work better without Kindred. If not for the Kindred involvement I think I'd be far more excited as it does sound interesting. I have Kindred burnout.

I will be disappointed if this isn't anything more than Boomerang's team vs. Otto's team.

Considering Otto was "outed" as Superior (or the San Francisco Spider-man) towards the end of his book, I can't see why the Sinister Six would want to work with him anyway considering how he treated them as Superior.

Exactly this. Kindred is just dead weight in the background holding all these stories back.

I just read it. I thought it was an outstanding issue. A lot is going on. Can’t say I’m a Kindred fan either but he’s definitely a part of it all. The cover of the next issue has me excited. Looks like a lot of sinister coming up in the near future. Spencer is balancing a lot of sub plots but at least it has been very interesting. Anymore might be to much but I’m enjoying this so far. I think Spencer is doing a great job with this. This book is right up there with the Immortal Hulk. This is now my number one pull. Give Spencer chance to sort this all out. Two books a month gives him plenty of time. Love how Spencer incorporates a lot of characters.

Let Spencer tell his story. Whining he’s not addressing or answering things when you want him is serving no purpose. We still don’t know where this is going.

I wonder if Kindred is gonna have Ock and whatever Sinister Six team break him out of his prison? Maybe Kindred leads them into battle with Spidey?

Most likely, the fact that Octavius made a deal with Mephisto will somehow play a role.

Whose left for him to take for the Sinister Six? All the usual suspects are on their own teams at this point.

According to the announcement it’s Ock’s Sinister 6 vs Vulture’s Savage 6 with NYC caught in the cross fire.

This seems like it’s Kindred’s big play so I’m curious to see how Spencer connects it all together.
